What a freakin' sweet looking machine. And that youtube video was great.

I read "CBX" and started counting to six and got stopped at four looking at the picture... That's the best looking CBX model I've seen. Definitely tell your truck to get lost and bring that one home if you can!

As soon as the fellow is back in the province (end of summer at the earliest), Ill be down there.

I did bring home this little 2005 Kawi on Thursday, its a quick (I hope) flip. Not keeping it. Just cleaned the hell out of it and its now back up for sale. She's a nice little bike, new tires and runs as sweet as a nut. First $1850 CAD will take her home.

I actually owned a CBX750F when they were new, and did about 30,000km on it. They were a bit of a stop-gap for Honda after the issues with the VF750F cams/tensioners and prior to the 86 VFR being released. I had a great run with mine, no issues at all. It is a good handling bike (for its age) and used a narrower front tyre than the VF so the 16" front wheel was less twitchy. The engine is a little coarse at lower revs but smooths right out when it hits the mid range and had a really nice in-line 4 howl.

The engine was used for many years afterwards in the CB750F model, and for some reason Honda Brazil manufactured the CBX for a few more years after they stopped in Japan.

    Good luck with your ownership!

Tons of those around Houston, Tried to buy a few to flip just like you. The ones I have looked at are usually beat to crap unfortunately. Suzuki has the similar GS500 from the same era with a full fairing.

This one has a few scratches, but all in all its 100% OEM and cleaned up pretty nice. We'll see if it sells.

Coincidental and somewhat funny about the Kawasaki. I visited my parents today and my dad was trying to remove the seat on my brother's EX500 that basically hasn't moved in 5 years. The toolbox is interfering with the seat latch you manipulate with the key. It won't come off. We went at it pretty hard today and couldn't get it to budge and gave up when we thought the seat might break in half. I'm putting together a plan to get the friggen seat off.

Unfortunately, I know it's going to end up over at my place for a once-over and service.

You should start a half way house for wayward motorcycles!

Never got them in the States, hard to say. 1500 - 3000 ? depending on condition?

The CX variants we got in the US aren't really worth much these days (except for the Turbo of course), but they still do have a pretty big following. But most of that is making customs (and then they think they are solid gold). Most of the CXs have been beaten into the ground.

Yea, I have seen some interesting CX customs.

Asking is $2000 US and it comes with 2 parts bikes.

    We'll see what kind of package deal I can come up with. (CBX750F + CX650E (+ 2 parts bikes)+ CB1 (Race/Partsbike )+ CB1 Parts and 2 OEM Exhaust systems.

    Gonna be a long wait.

Wow, another bike we never got. Looks like it has the tail section off the CX500/650 Turbo.

God, If I had a dollar for all the butchered CX500 "Cafe Racer" hack jobs around Houston I would be rich.

I guess nobody wanted them so they were cheap. But to cut the tail section off, and call it a "bobber" and think it is worth $5K is delusional.

Don't know what they're worth but I believe they may have come with a turbo -- I believe for one year. I had it's predecessor, a cx 500 custom, my brother had the deluxe. Same bike just different gas tanks. Low maintenance; water cooled/shaft drive/easy valve setting. You can see the oil filter housing on the front under the rad. Same type of cartridge element as the Nighthawk I recently acquired. except much easier to access.

Brought the CBX750 home today. Bought it not running (Battery was toast).

Got an OK deal...so I thought

but....Starter clutch is on its way out, starter only engages 50% of the time. Had been sitting for 4-5 years, and it puked alot of blue smoke from the exhaust. Ill run her a few more times and see how it goes. I may have over paid on this one.

That starter clutch is in with the tranny and requires splitting the cases I beleive.

F' me, I gotta stop buying bikes like this when I gamble I dont seem to win very often.

Sorry man, I hope it works out for you. I do not envy a case split job.

I had a 84 CB700 SC (same engine) back in the day and had no idea the starter clutch was such a bitch to get to.

    Thanks Jim, we will see.

The smoking has all but gone, just the starter clutch to see what happens. Im seeing the guy again tomorrow to pick up the mirrors (forgot to give them to me), so we'll see if he offers me a partial refund when im there. I already contacted him about the issue and he suggested he could give me some $ back. Id be happy at that.

Well I got a partial refund from the PO based on the issues, so thats good.

Smoke has now cleared. So not sure if that was sticky rings or poor valve seals, but clearly related to it sitting for a long time.

Starter clutch ....we'll see how that goes but I suspect it needs replacement. Found a used one on the Flea-Bay.

At this point I'm all-in on the bike for $2000 USD.

Bike had $1500 USD worth of work done on it before I bought it, including 2 new tires, new brakes, fresh fork oil, brake bleed, Carbs cleaned, oil change etc. Seller gave me a binder with all the bills and receipts etc.

Tank needs a soak in EvapoRust for a week, there is a light coating of rust in there. Generally needs a deep deep cleaning & detailing some engine paint and headers painted etc. We'll see how far I take it once I get torn into it in the fall/winter.

Ok, well that is good. $2K seems like OK money for what kind of shape it is in. Splitting the cases may not be that big of a deal, just a pain in the a$$.

Going to put new rings in there while you have it apart?
