    Hi VFR Enthusiasts,

I've been riding motorcycles for 32 years, and have wanted an Interceptor ever since learning to ride my first motorcycle back in 1989-a 1984 VF500C (Magna V30) purchased used in the dead of winter from Gentleman Jim's Suzuki in Cincinnati, Ohio. (I sold that bike in 1992 to a carnival guy who planned to use it in a Wall of Death attraction). Last month, I purchased a 2007 25th Anniversary VFR800 non-ABS with 18,700 miles for $3000. I am VERY pleased with it so far, am adjusting to sportbike riding with more use of my legs and core, and even fairing removal/replacement hasn't been so bad.

This forum has been a fantastic resource, and I thank y'all for the generous sharing of information. I've run The Drill (it passed) for assessing health of the stator and regulator/rectifier. I am currently waiting on parts to install a Fuzeblocks fuse block, dual-USB charger and voltmeter mounted on an under-the-ignition mounting plate, Valentine 1 radar detector direct-wire harness and RAM mount, phone RAM mount, and Hella TE16 high-low frequency horn set.

The bike came with Givi luggage and a Zero Gravity tinted windscreen, so the only other upgrades I am considering are a new seat-something stickier and more comfortable for long rides-and possibly a tuner.

See you out on the road!

    Sincerely,
    daboss
    Huntsville, Alabama

You also have a nice 8 spoke rear wheel which is an add-on. The bike came with a five spoke rear and wheels were charcoal black, hell of a lot easier to keep clean than white. I know.

Welcome to the world of temporary insanity, alcohol induced stupidity and mind numbing self gratitude. Seriously though. There is a lot of talent here for working on this bikes. I wished I could say I was one of them. I fit somewhere within the boundaries of the previously mentioned categories. Maybe all of them. If you have a question about the VFR in particular, ask in the proper spot and I am sure the question will be answered. You are going to learn to hate those damned Honda faring clips though. But there are better alternatives which are a lot cheaper than the OEM clips.

Thanks, Randy. The seller also threw in the stock charcoal black wheel with a virtually new tire mounted. I do like the white wheels, but can go back to black if cleaning the white wheels becomes a pain. I bought a box of well nuts from clipsandfasteners.com already, so would be interested in getting some of those fairing clips, too. Gotta link?

Why is it that 25th Anniversary RWB owners always have spotless, eat-off-the-floor-clean, epoxied garage floors? (not that there's anything wrong with that)

Hello daboss, my screen name is GreginDenver but in October of 2020 I moved to Providence Village here in Huntsville, so I guess I'm GreginHuntsville now. I have a pair of 5th Gen VFR800s (had to have one each of the slightly different sub-generations of the 5th Gen, one from 98-99 and one from 00-01).

I don't know how many other active VFR800 riders are in the Huntsville area, I've been pretty busy with work and house and dog, etc., since I moved into Providence Village so I haven't figured out any good local rides (although I've had a couple of people recommend the Paint Rock area north of Hwy 72). I know there's another 6th Gen owner over in Decatur, but that's it so far.

Greg, welcome to Huntsville. Unfortunately for me, that garage was from the previous owner, 53DeskFlyer, who lives in Tampa. My VFR is currently apart (fairings off) and in the process of getting electrical upgrades for road-tripping, and you guessed it--I'm waiting on parts. I will PM you when it's together and ready to ride, and we can meet up.

I usually pick a direction and go to destinations like Lynchburg, Guntersville State Park, Decatur, Muscle Shoals, Trussville, Monteagle, McMinnville, etc. for day trips. I don't think there are many active Viffers here in Northern Alabama, but an interesting route I ran across from back in the day is described in the following post:

    https://vfrworld.com/threads/huntsville-alabama-area-ride.14319/#post-93283

When I first moved to Huntsville in 2008 and before my family joined me here in 2009 I lived 2 miles north of Providence off of Indian Creek. My daughter has a business on Providence Main, The Local Esthetic, and a few friends from work live over there. It is a really nice area. Talk to you soon.

Your mention of road tripping has reminded me that it's now August in an odd-numbered year which means the Iron Butt Rally is about to kick off. I like to follow the internet website coverage/account of the event day by day as it progresses through its 11 days of riding. I'd forgotten about it until just now.

In past years I've gotten a kick out of it, especially the "Hopeless Class" guys riding bikes that really have no business doing multiple, consecutive 1000 mile days. There was a guy named Kurt Worden who rode a Kawasaki EX250, in 2015 or 2017 he finished inside the top 30 riders. Just incredible.
