Hello all! So I've been looking at new exhausts for my VFR, and have come to love the look of the high mounted ones. Saw black widow ones, but then looked at reviews and apparently its a no-go? I would absolutely LOVE a carbon high mount exhaust, but have no idea what the options are, and how the quality is on said unknown options. Would y'all mind helping out, whether it be from personal experience or just general knowledge on the subject?

When I first got my '99, it had an older TwoBrothers.... too obnoxious, but the pic gives an idea of the position. A friend had also bought a 2000 with a Delkevic, which is quieter (baffle in) and a pleasant sound.... so I swapped out the TB for the Delk.

5g exhausts are difficult to get these days.. delkevic and black widow being options... if you can find someone selling a used high mount staintune or micron, I think those look and sound the best from the vids i've seen

note that 8g exhausts fit 5g as well... they are low mount... but i would *assume* you could buy the high-mount pipe, then add a muffler can to the end of it. i believe delk sells the high mount pipe as a standalone item

let us know what you go with and post pics! i'm in the market for a 5g exhaust too, and also prefer the high mounts, but i bought my bike cheeeaap with no muffler so i'm really focused on something used/inexpensive. my 6g is the pretty bike.

ooooh?? Never knew the 8th gen exhausts fit the 5th, thats actually pretty awesome. Right now im looking at a carbon delk highmount that i found from another thread (Honda VFR800 Interceptor High Mount 14" Carbon Fiber Oval Muffler Exhaust 98-01 | eBay) but now that I know 8th gen works, maybe I'll find some different options. Hopefully the link worked lmao, just copy/pasted. I definitely plan on postiong pics whenever im done. I got really lucky with mine, it was the only one in the stat, and it so happens a buddy of mine had two. Fixed it up for me and only ran me 2800, so I'm pretty happy with it, hahaha, now just to paint it, and some other little add-ons

BOS exhaust carbon oval high mount. To me this still is the best looking muffler. Dutch company. Hard to get, possibly second hand?[IMG]

I like my Staintune. With the DB killer out the sound is intoxicating! I have the impression that they are a bit of a unicorn though.
