Hi all, I'm a Navy Vietnam vet, former LEO (Oakland PD), and retired security company owner (son runs the company now). I joined the forum primarily to list my low mileage, not a scratch, 2000 VFR 800 - it's a sadness to let it go. I'm an active 76 year old, but arthritis and hips don't sit so well with the seating position anymore. In deference to forum rules, please don't respond to this intro as if it were a for sale ad. I'll post the bike in the classifieds here in a few days, after I get some pictures and figure out what I should ask for it. The self-launch glider in my avatar is a Schleicher ASH26E over Douglas County NV, just east of Lake Tahoe. best, bumperm
Thank you for your service to our country and freedom loving people around the world! Sorry to hear that you will be letting your VFR go, I sure would miss mine.
Arthritis forced me into retirement from my second career in 2012. Only a few months later, my orthopedic surgeon prescribed a medication to me that honestly breathed new life into arthritic hips. I have avoided surgery to replace hips and knees bay adding too that oral medication by getting injections into those joints. This has kept me nimble even today. I am not under any misunderstanding that I may need surgery eventually but not right now. I hope you have explored all avenues before you sell a bike you seem to like a lot. Our careers were similar. Only mine does not have a military involvement. A full career in Law Enforcement and second career in Security.
the vietnamese people wanted freedom from colonial oppression and wanted national independence, and the usa was fighting to prevent that and to support a corrupt government not supported by the people. learn the lessons of history, friend. enough of your simple-minded effusive asskissing ! .
