Gonna be a tough one, they always got lost when bikes were taken apart. I think your best bet is to keep your eye open for any hardware lots on eBay and see if you recognize them in the pile.

Also try David Silver Spares and CMSNL.

There are two companies in Europe which specialise in buy NoS stock.

    David Silver Spares and CMSNL.

In this case your saviour may be David Silver Spares.

    Who has one in stock.

Seems they are also used on VFR400s and they have been remanufactured in Stainless Steel.

    See fleaBay item 254876460391.

Says posts to Europe. If won't post to US let me know and will act as International Shipper for you

I'm running into this issue now. $40 for the two remaining fairing spring clips in the entire world from David Silver Spares, or a drill bit and $0.02 worth of zip ties.

I just can't believe this common part is just completely gone. Maybe I can just safety wire them together...

No joy with the fleaBay part ?

Thought you would have more joy in US as, unlike the rest of the world, these fairings remained in production for US market VFR700 & 750s though to end of 89 model year.

On the Rain / Guest Bike 86, I run a zip tie around the brackets, where the clip normally slides into, holding them together. If you position it right, the tail can be in an easy orientation to trim.

Not the easiest install, but they have never come off or broken.

There is no such thing as a US market 88 or 89 VFR. They didn't bring in the heavily revised 88 model NOR did they sell the 87 design as 88 or 89. It's not a thing. There were some leftover 87s on sales floors in 88, but they were still 87s and had manufacture and model year dates reflecting that. There is also no such thing as a US market 1987 VFR750F. 87 were all VFR700F2, with quite a few small changes from 86. Some were assembled in Japan (JH2), some in Marysville, OH, USA (1HF).

There's not an extra amount of 87 style VFRS over here for parts.

You could still buy some 86 / 87 style fairings well into the 90s, I ordered and sold them to customers. Especially the pearl white. But they didn't come with clips, just the brackets.

American Honda was really pushing the CBR for this market.

Nah, no post to the US. Thank you for the recommendation though.

I couldn't get a zip-tie to work. Maybe with enough swearing and patience I might have eventually gotten it. For the interim I'm just going to safety wire it. I need to make a bracket for the left lower side, so I need to get the fairing in the right spot.

I get the zip-ty started just big enough to still slip over. I will say the first few times I did it, I was like, "WTF! It shouldn't be this hard!" Looking at your picture you can clearly see where a zip-ty SHOULD settle right onto.

It's the extra curled up portions in front and behind the mating sections that keep the zip-ty from just being laid in place and tightened.

Removing the zip-ty is likely easier than the safety wire.

I know. I ordered 4 from David Silver Spares (2 for the bike & 2 as backup spares). Just save yourself the time and place your order. These are getting impossible to find these days.

The same part was also used on similar vintage CBR1000 models so if you wanted to try breakers/dismantling firms try the fireblade as well. Sadly they do tend to be heading for unobtanium.
