Growing up I always wanted a VF1000R (as well as some other bikes)
About 2 years ago I ran across a bike for sale where the owner had initiated a needed carb cleaning, when he very unexpectedly had a stroke and was not going to be able to ride again, nor put the bike back together.

Although the bike is not in the best condition cosmetically, I thought I'd pick it up and have my mechanic re-complete the carb cleaning, and I'd clean the bike up as best I could.

We also ended up installing a new battery, and tires, flushed the brakes, oil/filter change, etc. He got the bike running very good, however, right when I got the bike back from his shop, other things in life and a career change resulted in the bike sitting for awhile, and now it wont start.

Even though the bike is not the best cosmetically, the engine, transmission, clutch etc is solid.
It currently has a Holeshot exhaust on it, and it sounds really good.
If I remember correctly, I have the original exhaust as well.

At this point in life, things are changing considerably for me, and like many people as they get older, I am starting to downsize and simplify. Based on this, I'm am thinning the herd of my many bikes, and I'm thinking that this particular bike needs to go to someone who will really appreciate it, and possibly thoroughly restore it.

All that being the situation, I don't really have an idea as to what this bike is actually worth.
As we all know, it is speculative with bikes, especially vintage or unique bikes.
I do know I have more money and time in it than I'll ever be able to recoup, however even though it's cool to look when walking through my garage, someone really should be enjoying this bike.
Also I'd hate to part it out, and, I really don't have the time, nor the tools/space/skill set.

So...if any of you have genuine interest and you are willing to have a fair conversation about the value, etc please let me know. I'm posting here, versus guessing on a price and putting on eBay because I'd really like to bike to go to someone that truly appreciates the VFR.

    Regarding location....
    I live in suburban Atlanta.
I do have the title for the bike, which is still in the prior owners name.
I have a bill of sale from when I purchased it, and I have the prior owners contact info, so if an interested buyer would like to speak to the prior owner to discuss the history of the bike etc , I can make that introduction.
The prior owner is a retired Delta Airlines mechanic and he still lives locally on the south side of Atlanta.
I can also arrange for a conversation with my mechanic as well.

    Thank You.

Pics will help people to put a value on that bike. It's a tough time to guess what a bike's worth, lots of crazy numbers. I owned a 85 VF1000r about 20 years ago, great bike, fun to just stare at. I would guess a good running version in 22 is worth 3-6K . Some are worth much more than that. Curious.....would 3k buy your bike?

One just sold on Iconic website for a little over $8k but it was running and clean.... ceptorman's numbers seem about right to me.

Todd, sorry to read about your stroke but hang in there brother. As far as thinning the heard... I'm about to do the same.

Thanks guys, I greatly appreciate the feedback.

Also to clarify, the guy I bought the bike from had the stroke...not me (thankfully).
I felt bad for him, as his wife had just divorced him as well. He was selling many other things, including their house. Very sad situation.

As for the bike, it is in need of some considerable cosmetic help.
I'm thinking that someone that would be looking for a VF1000R would want a bike that would be a better representation than this one.
And based on that, this bike is probably more so in the category of a "parts bike" condition, currently.

From what I'm seeing VF1000R parts are going for on eBay etc, if someone had the interest, time, tools and skill set to part it out, it would likely generate some decent money.
Unfortunately I'm just not that guy.

Example: I know someone that parts out ZRX1100/1200 bikes and he makes a considerable amount of money from each bike, and far more than he initially pays for each bike.

I'm traveling at the moment, but when I get back home next week I'll take and post some pictures of the bike.

    Thanks again for the feedback.
    I welcome more.

A happy and safe Labor Day to all.
