    Hi VFRs,

I was active on the forum many years ago when I had an '07 800 and then a '10 1200... those bikes and many others have come and gone since then, but I recently got a nice used 2000 VFR800. I've wanted one for a very long time, but the ones that have popped up for sale locally were just not the right bike for one reason or another until I found a winner a few weeks ago.
It's up on the lift for a little work over winter so it will be ready the way I want it for Spring.
I know everyone loves photos.. I'll make sure to get some up soon.
Thanks for having me back :)

Some pictures, as promised. Nothing very exciting yet.
1st is the day she arrived home. 2nd is how she sits now, levitating on the lift while the wheels are out for powder coating. Will be getting new tires, brake pads and wheel bearings while it's convenient.
Already ditched the trunk mount and was miraculously able to find a like new condition OEM rear seat cowl.
    Plans for the winter include:
    A proper fender eliminator kit
High mount exhaust (the Erion Racing will be up for sale soon :))
Probably new grips - it has heated now but only the left is working, and I'm a fair weather rider anyway
Disassembling and cleaning the left switch assembly. Left works great... right only if I keep the switch pressed continuously to the right
    Sargent seat
Maybe a different windscreen - the double bubble seems to put the wind a little too high for my liking.
Probably remove the "HONDA" stickers at the bottom of the fairing and replace with original style "VFR" decals.
Maybe stainless brake lines, if I'm really feeling brave.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things. Anyway, will post more pics as it progresses over the next couple of months. The fall/winter rains have finally arrived, so I've got plenty of time to get it done.

Wheels are back! Hopefully she'll start to look like a whole bike again soon.
While removing the grips I detected a slight notch in the steering head bearings, so those will also be replaced, and since that means the front end is going to be all apart, I starting thinking... Hmm I've read a lot about DMr on the forum.. so now cartridges & springs and a rear shock are on order, too..
You guys are good at spending other people's money LOL

    Looking good!

It's as fun as borrowing other people's boats and staying at their cabins.

Welcome to the "clean your rims often" group. I also went with white PC on mine last spring. I think it really looks sharp on the red VFR. Not sure that I've seen white rims on a Yellow one yet.

Looking forward to the photo of the finished project!

I hesitated a bit on the white for that reason, but this will likely be a fair weather bike, which tipped me toward doing it.. hopefully a wipe down after each ride will keep them bright. My daily commuter is a Vitpilen 401.

An update. Still waiting on new suspension to arrive. Can't get a reply from DMR for an ETA, so I guess it's just a game of hurry up and wait.
In the meantime, I was hoping to have the bike 100% done before taking it down, but I had to get the Vitpilen up on the lift so the wheels had to go back on the VFR for now. New Sargent seat is on (merry Christmas from my wife!), OEM seat cowl sourced from the Netherlands, w/ quick release pins, high mount exhaust (GPR is temporary until I can get a Staintune) and a new windscreen (anybody need a Zero Gravity dark smoke double bubble?).
Since this picture I've also removed the Honda lettering at the bottom of the fairing, but am waiting for the weather to warm up just a bit before putting fresh VFR graphics on. Also have a personalized license plate on the way, but you'll just have to wait until it arrives to see what it says :)

She's done for now... got the graphics changed and removed the bar risers. They might go back on... we'll see.
Still waiting on suspension. My DMR order is well overdue and I can't get any reply from him, so I guess I'll ride it as-is this year and do the suspension and steering head bearings when/if the order is ready. And I check daily for Staintune to re-release their high mount.
But the sun is out and it needs to be ridden. And I picked up another bike that will be occupying the lift for a bit anyway.
Oh and for some reason I feel like I have to say that those are not oil stains on my driveway! When the weather is poor the chickens won't stay away from the house and they crap all over the driveway and front porch GRR.

DMR has been my go to for a lot of suspension work, but lately....opinion....
He's a great suspension guru, but a terrible business man.

Stock bars wouldn't be bad if the pegs were in a more sporty location!
