OK, I'm thinking about Neon (LED) underlighting for my bike.

I am a big fan of Tuner cars and 'Need for Speed' racing games so Neon underlighting fits right in for me. (Yes that's me in "Yellow Fever" in pic below)

I noticed one guy at night on a bike (Hyabusa) with underlighting and it really made his road presence "PoP" out from the rest of the traffic. While it made him and his bike look "cool", it also made him 50 times more visible on the road which he my or may not have been aware.

Since my riding is 50% at night and I already use stick on reflectors on my helmet and back pack, I am thinking that Neon would be the next step up to improve my conspicuousness on the road, which is always a plus.

Does anyone have Neon or LED underlighting on their M/C ? I am thinking it would need to be stick-on strips with very thin wiring. Is their such a thing as stick-on wiring? I have a 2014 VFR. Would like to be able to change the lighting color at will.

Might be expensive to stretch the single sided swingarm to go with the under lighting. But recovering the seats in fur should be easy enough.

Not for me, but it's not my bike either, now is it? The "cool" thing is that with LEDs now, these kits have become compact and cheap.

I don't have Neon on my car because I don't drive it at night, or in the rain, or in the fog, or on windy days, or ever even washed it.
The main thing about doing LED on a bike is that it gives you a presence in traffic above even that of cars. Autos have large reflective surfaces that M/C's don't have. With LED's it's like a helicopter is following you with a spot light on your bike.

And it's Christmas...hmmm red and green...

The only thing that comes to mind is "Barf". All I think of when I see lights like that is "poseur".

Turns out it definitely WAS his bag after all though LOL : )

If you've seen a lighted bike on the highway it is a different deal from a parked bike. When I ride to work, like even today I have cars coming up from behind be at 90+ mph in the dark and have to keep an eagle eye on them at all times in my mirrors. I know I am just a dark shadow with a red tail light and a few body reflectors out there at night. Sometimes I don't see them coming and they really piss me off when they blow by unexpected. I want to feel like nobody could say they didn't see me.

Do you have auxiliary lighting up front? I'd start there before looking into the body light kits. Front lighting to help outline the profile that it's definitely a motorcycle. I think the biggest hazard for night riding, especially on bikes with dual-headlights like later model VFRs ,is inexperienced drivers mistaking a close motorcycle for a car further away. That can lead to left turns in front of you or pulling out of side streets. The SMIDSY weave can help, and is something I do at almost every intersection now, but not all approaching cars are at a known intersection you could identify. They may be shooting onto a small side street or into a driveway.

For your concern about rear approaching drivers, have you looked at the Brake Free helmet light? I've seen a few riders out and about wearing them.

Yes, I've looked at helmet lights which are a very good idea. That's why I have some cat-eye neon reflectors on my helmet and back pack. I have always felt that my biggest problems are behind me. In front of me, I can create the traffic safety zones and escape spaces I need on the fly. But behind me in my mirrors, I'm not going to catch it all. It bothers me when some jerk blows by me close and I have to admit that damn, I didn't even know he was coming. I let it get out of my control is how I feel.

When I was 28 and aboard my new 89' Kaw ZX7 at about 9 pm and riding along with a friend, I stopped at a main intersection red light. Looking back in my mirror for my friend because he had dropped back a ways, I see a pair of headlights closing in on my stopped lane position. I locked eyes on the headlights in my mirror and in a fraction of time say to myself 'this guy is closing in way too fast and how can he stop'? I instantly grabbed revs and launched into the empty intersection while cutting left at the same time, turning mostly on my back wheel, straightening out and looking to my right as the driver flew through the red light. I could see him looking straight ahead in a trance like the red light or me wasn't even there. I was a good as dead that night and the experience shaped my riding from that point on. Fortunately it was me, because I would have lost my inexperienced friend that night if it were him. He knew it too when we talked later. He quit riding not long after.

I ordered a 6 piece LED kit from "Motorcycle LED Lights" website today. Their product seems to be heavy duty quality made for bikes.
On the 8th gen MC, what is the best place to tap into for the electrical connection on this bike?
The kit has a receiver and two quality key fobs to control the lighting and colors. I didn't want an app controlled kit because that's just not my bag ; )
It also has the option where when I use the brakes, all the LED's turn red at the same time as the brake light. That's awesome and hugely visible !
So I am going to put my baseball cap on crooked, put some baggy trousers on and get to the wiring as soon as the kit arrives : )

You can light up your bike like a firetruck, and they'll still run into you. Just like they do firetrucks,
ambulances, trains, police cars, etc. Just like "Loud pipes saves lives".

I am going to start pulling bodywork off today because it is going to rain for the next 3 days, so no riding.
I am looking for an accessory power lead for my LED lighting.
I was thinking that those of you that have the Deluxe model with the hand grip heaters might know the location where the heater switch plugs into it's power source?
I would like to tap into that connection for my LED's instead of directly to the battery terminal's. I don't want power to the lights unless the ignition is switched on.

That should be illegal. Isn't there a VFR gang that can visit this guy late at night? :)

If you look up the word "Abomination" in the dictionary, this bike's picture is there. :)
