Not given many updates about about project VFR in a while... but I have been beavering away with it when time allowed and its now ready for its UK MOT test...once it passes this its road legal again... managed to repair the LCD which wasnt working so i can now read the mileage and watch the temperature... serviced it... removed all the stickers the previous owner had applied... sorted all its running issues ... rebuilt and bled the brakes and rebuilt the front left side secondary master cylinder as it all blew apart on my first test ride.... Bought a complete fairing bolt kit and then ran the buffer over it... think its done.!!!

Is the bolt kit a dealer product or something of an upgrade? I’ll be taking my fairings down this summer and there’s a few strange bolts from the previous owner.

Hi John, what was your issue with the LCD screen? The mileage not showing? (the issue I have). Be interested in hearing about HOW you fixed things. Mine is a UK import to NZ so temp is in C (good) but odometer/trip meter was in miles. I have found how to switch between miles and kms. Also suffering a few dreaded wiring corrosion issues.

Hi... not sure if my LCD problem was the same as yours, as I had nothing showing on the screen not even time. Id read about the jumper wire fix that can be done on the lcd but when i removed my clocks that fix had already been done. I then checked continuity on all the tracks on the back of the clocks and it turned out the track that fed the time was broken. I soldered a jumper wire onto that track over the break and everything worked. Out of interest how did you convert from miles to KM ? MInes in Km and i want miles.

I’m US-based but don’t mind ordering from the UK if you’re willing to share the company.

Insert a jumper across points J2 (see my board picture) to get miles. Remove jumper to get Kms.

Jumper wire (or component) across points J2 = miles. Remove jumper for kms.

I assume you are talking about the tracks on the flexi PCB in the instrument cluster as opposed to the rigid circuit board that the LCD is mounted to. The EEPROM (HP - 0418) is mounted on this board underneath the LCD screen. The cumulative odometer reading is stored on this. I get a blank reading just for total odometer distance - checked all solder point and seem OK, so assuming the EEPROM has died. However I can't seem to find any specification on that model EEPROM to find a replacement to try. Anyone with a good electronics chip reference catalog that can help out??
