Greetings brothers. A little while ago I purchased an 07 VFR in decent condition, but as I've ridden it i've noticed several scratches/nicks, a small dent, a slight discoloration/streak running down one of the fairings and a couple other cosmetic problems. After watching Wheelie Good Tv's VFR restoration video, i've been thinking of doing a repaint to get rid of these mild annoyances (shown below). I wanted to ask you guys though - is it even worth it? These little scratches are all pretty minor and nothing you'll really notice unless inspecting the bike closely.

Also, before anyone says, no I don't want it wrapped.

Have you priced good paint jobs lately, especially red? That might help you decide.

And you are just now noticing those? When I am considering buying a bike, I inspect it closely at the time.

Its a personal choice. But I think you need more than paint on a couple of those gouges. Is it worth painting? I don't know. I've only done it to my 06 2 times now. And would not hesitate to do it a third time. By time a fourth is required, I will be dead so I will stop there. After the first re-paint, I installed graphics which I liked, but tired of them. That, and the fact that I crashed it in Baja, and did a little damage to the front cowl, led me to the second repaint.

Also, those streaks. Could those be from clutch or brake fluid spills? If so, I would be sure that those areas were addressed properly before repaint. I don't know what proper means in this case. An experienced painter would know though.

75 bucks per panel back when I had mine done, that was 06 maybe? Prices went up I am sure. I liked the BBQ comment.

Other than the final photo, all of these scratches dont really go deep, so I dont think much will have to be done about them.

    >you need new friends

tell me about it lmao. My motorcycle friend group is literally
-dude that got mad at me for a misunderstanding and blocked me before i could explain myself
-dude who seemingly vanished without a trace
-dude who wont respond to texts
-dude who's fork seals broke and hasnt fixed them yet
-dude who has no self control, totaled his first bike in 3 months by looping a wheelie, bought a more powerful bike, then got arrested and quit riding

I did mine for the second time maybe 2 years ago or so. I removed the panels. No body work done. Just sanding prepping and paint. I think I paid about $1700.00. CANADIAN! We here in Canada need a new symbol to identify money. The $ sign just seems so out of wack when a Canadian talks to an American about costs of things. We should call our currency "pucks" and refer to them as "Timmies" All Canadians would understand the reasoning here, some Americans will too.

Do you mind letting me know where you had this done?
I'm in Vancouver, and would love to address some fairing issues on my vfr!
I purchased it last fall from a dealer at a discount due to the damage from a tip-over from the PO.

    thanks in advance!

I am in Chilliwack and both times I had it done was at Parker's Auto Body. But he made it clear to me that they don't like doing bikes. Matter of fact, the only reason he did it a second time for me is because I was a repeat customer and made some other business for him in the past as well. He tells me that doing bike pars is a rea pain in the ass. The quality of the work done the second time reflects the disinterest of the person doing the work too. I should have taken it back for them to fix the sub standard work. Having said all this, if I were to be fixing up a car, I would not hesitate taking it there.

I am sure there are many places you can take your bike parts for them to paint. Especially in Metro Vancouver. I just don't know names off hand. I have never lived there. I've been in Shittywack since 1989 and hated this place since 1988. A bus load of blind people going through Shittywack with the windows down would know where they are.

Another thought. Stop in a a Harley Dealership. There are so many painted up Harlies out there someone should be able to direct you in the right direction.
