There has been a slow persistent leak from the RH oil cooler line, only a few drops a day but it adds up when the bike is stored for the winter. I first assumed it was the o-ring between the fitting and the oil sump pan but it appears to be from the crimped part of the oil line. There appears to be remanents of a rubber o-ring sticking out of the crimp. I don't think hondabond will hold up in this area so I'm probably looking at replacing the line. New oil lines for a 99 VFR are NLA and unfortunately the used ones I see online are in poor condition. Any other suggestions to stop the leak ?
i'm wondering if it would be possible to chop off the crimped connections and have AN fittings welded on in their place, this would let you just use AN hoses and an aftermarket oil cooler. maybe a local speed shop could take care of that for you. failing that, you could also simply remove the oil cooler and find a way to cap off the inlet and outlet.
Cheers Terry, the photos of stainless lines look pretty but they don't have any prices on their website, which seems a bit suspect. However that suggests I could take my leaky oil pipe to the local shop that makes hydraulic lines. AFAICS the only special about the honda oil pipe are the end fittings, everything between could be replaced.
