A real nice survivor with a couple period mods. Looks like somebody enjoyed that as they should have. Not "perfect condition", but damn.

I'm not happy with the large HONDA decal on those 2 lower fairings. That is not how they came from the factory and aside from a tastefully located Michelin Man, I'm not big on "stickered up" machines!

I was going to bid on this one but it's already above what I was going to stop at.

    HUGE bidding war - YIKES!!!

    Sold for $13,250 on 6/24/25

Really helps to have such an iconic bike in such excellent condition.

The last time this model sold on B.a.T. - it was on 8-20-20 and sold for $5,958.

The auction today only went this high though because two bidders couldn't let the other one have it. That is it.

If you look at the comments you will see this.

But your point is well taken - in general B.a.T. favors the seller. While eBay favors the buyer more, IMHO.

Most of my Interceptors are the tariff buster 700's........and when the time comes to sell some of them, I'd be happy to get $4-5K, to be honest.

But who knows how the market will look a few more years down the road.

I hear people talking all the time about the dwindling population of boomers, and how that will affect all things vintage and classic.

But IMHO there will always be plenty of the next gens who will have a thirst for these iconic bikes.

OUR job s to give something in "presentable" condition. Ready to ride. New tires, fresh oil and filter change, carbs all tuned up. No damage to body work.

    Then some nice riding videos.

Some of this is just good marketing!

    Ha!

Well if you look at the one I bought (post #8 above) those HONDA decals on the lower fairings don't belong!

I'd probably take those HRC ones off though before I decide on the HONDA's. I could live with those while other higher priorities call.....

I am stocking up on replacement decals right now and already have a full set for this bike. They are really nice - maybe better than factory. Also digging into some fairing repair stuff. Kinda interesting work, actually.

"I remember that bike. Same summer I saw boobs. I better bid it into the stupidsphere."

From the winning buyer right after the auction ended:

Objectively I believe I’ve just paid too much for this. Subjectively, I consider how nice it is, how long I’ve been looking, how long it might be before another one crosses my path, and considering all that I’m philosophical about it.

I graduated high school in 1984. In 1986 I bought a 600 Ninja, which I still have. Since then I’ve slowly been collecting the superbikes that intrigued me back then, and this one will join a tidy collection, all of which are ridden regularly on the back roads of Northern California. Thanks to everyone who contributed comments, and a special thanks to the seller. I look forward to riding this to a BaT alumni event soon!

So I was (mostly) right. Except for the ill informed.

Ruining it for anybody that just wants to buy a nice rider. He hasn't been looking THAT long. More money than patience.

Fine. They are worth what they sell for.

Couple other dumbasses had to help him get to that price. (Baz... NOT referring to you)
