    Hi,

I was performing a starter valve adjustment on my 2014 VFR. I went to adjust the idle speed using the knob on the left side of the bike, but the plastic knob would not turn. I'm not sure if the cable has seized, or where it attaches into the throttle bodies has seized. I was wondering has anybody else had this issue and how did they fix it? I'm hoping not to have to tear off the throttle bodies to fix this, but it might be on the cards if I get no joy.

    Thanks in advance.

Old post, but the problem is an easy fix with a little patience. WD40 or similar at the threaded point at the carburetor mounting end of the cable.
Worst case, the whole outer cable is corroded to the iner but at least you will be able to adjust the idle stop.
I threw away the cable outer and put some shrink sleave over the cable inner to stop it further rusting, all works!

rusted cables are nearly never. might get stiff but oil or wd worked in fixes it in most bikes.
