    You've seen one already.

The other one I don't have a good picture of at the moment. It is a 1985 CB400T Super Hawk III. Japanese Domestic market import. Probably the only one in the states. Basically it is similar to the US 1982 Hawk, but has triple disc brakes and individual bars, not tube bars. Some other smaller differences too.

Here is one out of the Honda Collection Hall.

    Super-Hawk-III-1980.jpg

Not the "trickest" bike I know, but she loves it and so do I. That motor is actually quite good. I lowered the headlight (my biggest pet peeve on early 80s Hondas) and it has a headlight cowl. Also did some rear fender eliminating, aluminum turn signals and sunk in a more modern taillight in the cowl. Probably shouldn't have, but I was young(er) and it is all reversible. I am going to re-visit the headlight cowl (it was installed when there were not many options) and probably move to something like what I installed on her CB-1.

Today was the day to clean these fairings that came with the bike deliveries two weeks ago. Most were still in bubble wrap. I wanted to get a closer look at them, wash them all off (except the tail fairing which didn't need cleaning), and re-wrap in bubble wrap before I stow them away for future use.

Will start with this tail fairing, which is absolutely perfect. Even has the correct hardware still in place. Should go in a museum or something....lol....

    Thanks Capt and agree!

And there's more.......got the cap off that Blue tank just now! After a 2 day soak with ER, then a wash out with water, then blasting inside with my power washer, then a heavy spray of PB Blaster and another overnight.....she started moving today. I used a pair of pliers and gently moved the key back and forth until she gave way and came off. Now I can continue the rehab of the tank interior. So stoked because this is a NICE tank!

General reminder about mix-n-matching caps and tanks. Don't forget there are 49 state and CA tanks and 49 state and CA caps. CA tanks are vented with an internal line and external spigot. You can't put a CA cap on a 49 state tank.

Your pictured cap is 49 state, as it has the black plastic vent diaphragm. CA caps will not have that.

    OK thanks for the reminder.

I think my first Interceptor was a CA version.

Here's the bottom of the tank........has that extra spigot......

    IMG_3530.JPG

And you can see the cap is different......

    IMG_6167.JPG

And don't get me started on the carbs......they had all kinds of extra stuff! :D

More good news today. My duplicate keys arrived and I was able to confirm I now have a proper ignition key for the RC24 I obtained 2 weeks back. I had removed the seat lock to get the code - then ordered the keys.

Some work still ahead but at least I have a key for it now........stoked!

Back to work tonight on that Blue tank referenced in post #1006 above. Has had a ER soak now for about 4 days. I transferred out the ER and then washed her out real well with my garden hose and a multi-pattern nozzle. I tend to use the "center" pattern the most but guess I could have also used the "jet" pattern. Lot of blasting, shaking around, draining, and repeating the same. Not sure if I will use my electric power washer on her or not. She looks pretty good right now, TBH. Certainly good enough to use. However....sometimes "good enough" is not enough, so I will sleep on it. Right now she's filled up with fresh clean water.

This photo was taken after opening the cap after the 4 day ER soak. Looking good!

    IMG_2739.JPG IMG_2741.JPG IMG_2742.JPG

This tank had stuff rattling around in it from day 1. I finally got the last chunk out. Old fuel that hardened over time? There's some black stuff in there and I'm also wondering if someone used some kind of treatment inside at some point.

    IMG_2763.JPG

Didn't take any endoscope pics so just with my point and shoot with flashlight shining in the opposite opening.......

    IMG_2745.JPG IMG_2755.JPG IMG_2759.JPG

I found this a little odd. Looks like some kind of stain in a pattern that suggests it came from the tank being upside down with some liquid in it. I wonder if it's from the first treatment I gave it to loosen up the fuel cap. I only used ER and then later squirted the area with Kroil and PB Blaster. Maybe a soak with Acetone would clean it up (?)

Stopped at the local Auto Zone tonight on the way home to grab a 22 oz. Griot's Garage 3 in 1 ceramic spray wax.

This belonged to one of the associates there. Said is was a leftover 2023 that he got for half price at the Honda dealer in Daytona.

    Pretty snazzy!

Today is the first day since I have been working on bikes that I feel 100% comfortable and stoked with the whole multiple bike garage. I smile every time I see red at the head of the garage waiting to go out. Weird how this stuff effects me. Oh well. From the wrenchin seat. image.jpg

Looks fantastic, Rogue! Is that doggie bed on the floor for you or your fur baby?
