I have a stack of them and am in the process of getting rid of no longer needed paperwork.

Asking myself on ALL of this stuff....will I ever need it again?

If no.....it's goes in the circular file.

I guess the receipts would be helpful in keeping track of work you do for bikes you will sell. Receipts that include work from a vendor, such as carb/brakes rebuild, etc are nice to pass along to next owner I guess. Maybe tires.

In the end why not 86 it all?

I make a note in my maintenance binder for repairs and accessories. Each bike has a section. Then I shit can the receipts. To this day I have not needed to provide a receipt.

I keep a file folder for major refresh/resto work, receipts and all.... .sometimes years later, I ususally get curious about a certain job and I pull the folder out for review.
Also, I do write in the back of the FSM what work has been done....

I'd be terrified that my wife will find the receipts and add up all the money I have blown...

I have established a bike slush fund that pays for everything bike related including my tour rides. It is a healthy account. I dipped into it when I was buying a new truck a couple weeks ago but maintained a good balance there.

I have binders for my two bikes, my very first bike, the VFR and a new, and additional, purchase back in 2022, a brand new Africa Twin. I make sure the mileage is recorded on every purchase or work order so I can answer the questions that often arise here in VFRW. Several times someone has asked me what was done and where as they learned my bike was very high mileage. So I could look it up. I have always done that even with my cars and trucks. It is all there to hand over to the new owner to do what he wishes with it. Unfortunately, the dealers, if you use the vehicle as a trade in, tend to throw those in the garbage instead of allowing new owners to know the history of the bike.

Ya. I tend to collect meaningless pieces of paper on my vehicles. But in my last career, in addition to my supervisory role, I also managed our fleet of 18 cars. So I have to keep record so that the managers and directors of the company could see what service was done, how the cars lasted, or did not last. We stopped buying Tauruses and started buying police package Chargers with 6 cylinder engines in them after we put forth a business plan using my records.

Low an behold, I was promoted to the management team and became the records manager. Wouldn't you know.

The dealership keeps record of what I buy. No need to keep papers.

My bikes are Not museum pieces. They are to be ridden, and the receipts are just clutter.

Keeping receipts around raises suspicion and questions
    .. lol. Rather avoid that

Me too. I treat mine like cheap 2 bit hookers from the down town east side of Vancouver BC Canada. I ride them hard and long and put them away wet.
