VFR1200F Heavy Clutch - what can be done

Dear VFR Forum,
I recently purchased a 2011 VFR1200F and am loving it. also much appreciation tot he VFR Gallery, some great examples.

However when riding in heavy traffic, I'm using the clutch a lot, which is normally fine and part of the joy of riding. However the clutch on the VFR1200F is heavy.

As far as I can tell the bike is in 'stock' condition.

What modifications can be done to reduce the effort required at the clutch lever. I've read about the potential to use aftermarket slave cylinder with a larger diameter piston.

Has anyone had this problem?
Is this standard condition or due to degradation and can routine maintenance fix?
If this is standard condition what mods have been successful?

 

The VFR1200 clutch is a bit heavier than say the VFR800 that I also have. I think your only option to reduce the pull would be to change the slave cylinder to a larger diameter. I don't know whether Oberon make them for the 1200 but if not I won't be suprised if the 1200 uses the same slave as another more common/popular Honda. Before you go there make sure your current system is as free-moving as it can be, lube the pivot/shaft and the brass bushing at the lever, and pull the clutch pushrod out of the crankcase and polish and lube it.
