I little tale about some unicorn parts. Not amazing, but pretty good.

So, as I always am doing, scanning eBay, I scrolled past this weird Interceptor seat. I didn't think much of at the time cuz it was pretty sad, and like i said, weird looking.

I came across it again a couple days later and decided to take a closer look. Oh, I see. It's the solo seat cowl pad still attached to the seat... with the hardware.

    VF750F seat2.jpg

Well shit. So I have been working towards restoring a seat cowl for the VF1000F. I have the original blue pad, but I am recovering another seat in black and was wondering what I am going to do about the pad. (Clear coat damage/stains on the other side)

I have a COMPLETE VF750F Seat Cowl Assy (black pad) with all the impossible to find hardware.

REALLY want to keep that all together and complete. I considered reupholstering the original blue pad, but man, that does not look fun.

So here's where the eBay find comes in. Here's what it looks like after a little cleaning.

Had all of the hardware except for one circlip. Inner collars, inner and outer special screws. Hell yes.

The pictures of the actual pad were not good in the original listing. Took a chance. Glad I did. The seat was JUNK and had to pay to ship the whole thing. Cost me $80. I feel just fine about it. Probably a relative bargain. You just can't find that hardware.

Nice score, @Captain 80s ! I admit I've never really paid any attention to the seat cowl for the 1000 - it really is different than the ones I have for my RC26's.

I bought an RC26 fuel cap w/key from Canadian eBay seller last week that even with duty and fees came to under $100, which is a deal for sure on an item that's hard to find.

    Will post a pic tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing - love stories like this! :)

But it is exactly the same shape and hardware as the VF750F RC15 Hondaline Seat Cowl.

Looked it up and the cap plus shipping was US$60.05. Then I was charged an import fee of $40.99 - so the whole thing came to $101.04.

Note that it came with the proper code stamped factory key and all 5 screws! And it is a "vented" cap! Not bad!

Had a little corrosion under the big rubber washer and the action was a little sluggish so I soaked her in EvopoRust overnight and now she looks good and the action snaps back and forth as normal. :)
