We are now at the front end rebuild. Forks ready to come out. Should be interesting since I need to combine the set of forks. Hopefully the chrome from the ‘88 will work with the ‘90 lower stations to accommodate the normal rotor. Side cover paint almost complete. Waiting for the paint to dry. Lol

------------------- 1946653242_028_28vtrcab.JPG.9b38f0ec9b093997a38fdcab3d4e32f5.JPG you might find the stock fork springs weak and whimpy--not sure if better ones are available but the Capt will know--theyre bad and bottom out easily

88 tubes should work just fine with the rest of the 90 parts. Use the 90 springs (since this is a flip) and set oil height, not "qty", to resist bottoming.

I'm sure there are springs out there since many of the late 70s and early 80s Honda four's are 35mm.

When setting height, I am assuming skip the service manual and set to X mm away from the top? How much distance would one guess?

The service manual that I have for a naked VTR has the oil height at 105mm from the top of the fork tube, that is with springs out and the fork fully compressed.

Ahh cool. I will start there. Thanks T-dawg!

Grrr my painting took a dive on the final step. My clear coat turned “textured” on me. Not sure what caused this ( weather, temp, coats???). Either way it looks way better than before, but painter I am not!

be very careful not to damage the plastic fuel selecter knob as they are NLA and may be unique to that bike only -------unless the capt can find an alternative, and that is his assignment gallery_3647_3505_26226.jpg
