Something else than a VFR

Well I have owned quit a few motorcycle's, 7 of them has been VF/VFRs, and right now own 2, both 1986 VFR750.
But this thread is about the other motorcycle's I have owned.
This is 2 I owned in 2021

Sadly don't own them anymore, well I have some part's of the 1990 CBR1000F as it was damaged during trailering it to a different location after a divorce that year so I parted out most of it. The Africa Twin I had to sell because of money issues after the divorce.

The 1997 Transalp 600 has just had a cosmetic upgrade, new paint as stickers as seat cover.

 

Like the upper cowl on Transalp. Didn't notice it before.

Last year in the states was 91.

That upper cowl design came 94. Can be retro fit to older, the side cowl's under it are the same as older.
Personally I actually like the older design better but a matter of taste.
I had a 1987 edition that I bought cheap after getting together some fund's after the divorce finance issues where over

But that motorcycle was a disaster, to much to do and even I did many things to it, a worn front sprocket shaft was to much, so I passed it on.

And yes, America didn't get any years of the Transalp 600, probably didn't sell that well?

A project Kawasaki Zephyr 550

As a Kawasaki ZR7S, that sadly is also a project as it suffered from a fast stretching cam chain so engine in parts still

Then I also own whit a friend a 86 Yamaha FZ750 that has a FZR1000 frame as bodywork.... project also....

 

The late 80s, early 90s were kind of a strange time for US models. Many were funky designs that have now become desirable. But more importantly they were expensive. They weren't "hot sellers". Hawk GT, CB-1, GB500, NX series and Transalp. For the same money you could get a CBR600F.

 

Here are the bikes I have had. I presently own my VFR still, and the brand new Gold Wing. I brought, well a friend brought that bike to my home about a month ago. I have yet to ride it due to fractured wrist/broken wrist or whatever it is. But today, in 3 1/2 hours, the cast comes off. And then I will ride it like a teenaged boy strung out on Spanish fly .

 

I do like the aesthetics of this generation of the Honda. I remember a school mate's older brother getting one of these brand new in the late 60's, I guess when these graphics first came out. His was a bright metallic green base colour. I thought it was a real hot looking bike. I knew absolutely nothing about motorcycles other than that they looked like big fat bicycles back then. Do you still have this one Ken?

Due to excellent weather, like middle of summer, I just had to take out both the Transalp as the VFRD today, next week weather forecast is not good so better take advantage of the warm as sunny weather




They are quite different even both fun, the VFR has the sound as charter where the Transalp is the comfortable one as charter but whit less power.
I have quite knobby tires on the Transalp but as I actually don't ride that much off-road because a group I was riding whit don't ride much as most seem busy all the time I'm considering putting more road worthy tires on it, but how road worthy is the question....

The Transalp I mentioned before, engine running strong but otherwise a mess.
The FJ1200 bought as a non running, nice bike in many ways but as a FJ guru, that though me a lot of them and was a nice guy, turned out to be what you would not expect made me loose interest in the FJ, so perhaps not as good bike as think, well would not mind a FJ1100 as they are lookers to.
The TRX850 was a nice bike to, but one you hade to ride active whit. Also quite a mix, street suspension, track gearbox, to hi gearing for normal roads here and you had to keep revs above 4k so the engine didn't upset. Seat was more comfortable than it looks, whit a VFR engine in the frame would have been a blast!
