Look who showed up!

Not sure I would ever make the first oil change, but here we are. Red has been my go to for a bit due to the shoulder, but I just noticed the mileage, checked my books and she is ready. Gonna do some cleaning and double check my work a bit over the weekend.
Also working on the NSR250 gear light. Letting the small magnets cure 4 x 90* apart. Next is to verify the pickup sensor, but the battery is dead….grrr charging.
The mounting kit is from Japan for this bike but the mount is ghetto. Oh well.

 

Oil changes are a great investment! I just did the Silverado last week. It's an '02 I've owned since '05 and now with over 240K miles and still purrs like a kitten! 4.8 Vortec!

 

Yep yep! 99 Silverado 5.3 vortec 245k owned since 2002. Also purrs like a kitten.

 

Coolant change as well. Needed to create a new bracket to hold the long coolant tube. Found a collar and P clip to make it work. Not sure I ever had the OE bracket.

 

Yesterday was my first use of the helmet lock and it barely worked. Lubed, re-bent back to original shape and works like a dream. Still not pretty though. Might be worth it to repaint the turn brackets which house the lock mech.

 

I've lubed many a helmet lock and got them to work much smoother!

 

Gear sensor on the NSR250 is picking up the epoxied magnets which makes it ready for the final step of calibrating gear selection. Which is actually the toughest part. I think I have to ride potentially and push a 2mm size button after each shift. Not 100% on that. I took a photo is G translate and will study it tonight.
They did supply a test light to verify the sensor operation, which was nice. The little button, grrrr

 

Made and installed a new rear brake line after finding a rub through spot in the OE line.


To top it off I found the muffler hitting the swing arm during my leak verification this morning. Sheesh. I tell you the first major rebuild needed more attention to detail. So now I will pull the exhaust and flair out the bracket a bit.

 

Cool, flailed out the bracket and added a spacer to place the muffler mount further away from swing arm. Should be plenty of room. Let my exhaust silicone cure for a bit and then a test ride. NSR to the rescue again.

 

Back to the NSR250. Translated the instructions, and noted on the fuel tank the process. See how it goes.

 

Well, didn’t quite work out but f it. 40 mins of NSR250 was well worth it! Little RWB for the 4th.
