So I have 2 1986 VFR750F, a RWB North American Interceptor as a European version that been White as new but someone painted Red.
The red one was bought first as a project motorcycle, I have rebuilt it's fork's whit fresh seals as slide bushings. The RWB is orginal but it's other fork leg started leaking.

As I have decided to put other forks on the red one, I decided to take the forks from the red and put them on the RWB. However the fork springs on the red one felt really stiff and as the spacer looked orginal I just thought it was to long for the spring as the former former owner had upgrade to stiffer springs...
    So

Forks off as springs out and surprise

Together both are same length. Left from the red one right from the RWB. The spacer in the red ones fork looks orginal but cut, the fork leg cap is also non orginal made from billet.
I don't know why I didn't notice before, but the red's aftermarket spring has a code

But didn't find a hit google it. But if the spring rate is 85Nm, it's sure pretty stiff as I found some aftermarket springs has a rate of 65Nm.

85 to 95N/mm is a pretty good rate for straight rate springs for an average European-sized ride (not a Japanese jockey).. The code on the spring is probably a Racetech marking.

How much do you weigh? I just bought springs for my 86 and they are .95N/mm, I weigh around 200lb. Like Terry said, 85 to 95N/mm is a pretty good rate for straight rate springs for an average European-sized rider. You can find the spring rate/ rider weight on the Racetech and Sonic websites.

    I'm about 75kgs, 165lb.
The "Racetech" 85 springs are rock hard on the bike, fork doesn't much mauve unless heavy G load pleaces and cornering feels vague, the one's that has been on the RWB one, OEM?, feels okey on the roads I ride.

Interesting, maybe it's an issue with the fork versus the springs? I haven't had a chance to install the .95N/mm springs in mine. I'm curious how they work out.

Well, the project goes on, noticed the head bearings where shoot so did get new ones and changed them. Then time just flyed, was going for a test ride yesterday after bike been sitting for a month but as I started the bike the crabs flooded, today they didn't, like many times before after fuel has swollen the O-rings, so did go for a test ride. I'm more confused than before, now that I have the fork legs that where hash on the other VFR whit stock fork springs you bottom the fork out really easy as you brake, so totally different. Only thing change are the fork springs, spacer as top cap, oil is same Motul 10W
I have to test the other springs one more time.....
