Dream bike! VFR 750 97 UK

Hello !
Finally got the bike I fancied a long time!
My friend had this beauty stood for 7 years...
-old fuel sadly left in tank
-petcock was left on

So far
- new battery
- new coolant
- fresh petrol and filter
- new air filter

Bike started but dumping loads of fuel...

I'm missing few fasteners
Farings cracked in places
Missing push throttle cables

Considering
-taking carbs out to replace all o-rings
-overhaul of forks
-overhaul of brakes and new brake lines

I would love a recommendation (list) or o-rings sizes, also i think buying a ultrasonic cleaner will be a good investment, I'm on a budget and spending £400 on a carb overhaul service is not an option...

BTW I bought fuel line to replace the old ones as the crumble but the Halfords 8mm is so hard and very stiff, does any one know how does fuel line from Wemoto compares ?

Internal Carburetor Components (4 Carbs Total)

• Pilot / Fuel Mixture Screw O-Rings: 3.0 mm x 1.0 mm (Qty: 4)
  
  
• Float Bowl Drain Screw O-Rings: 5.0 mm x 1.0 mm (Qty: 4)
  
  
• Needle Valve Seat O-Rings: 5.0 mm x 1.5 mm (Qty: 4)
  
  
• Air Cut Valve Base O-Rings: 5.0 mm x 1.0 mm (Qty: 4)
  
  
• Air Cut Valve Cover O-Rings: 7.0 mm x 1.5 mm (Qty: 8 — Note: requires 2 per air-cut assembly) [1, 2, 3]
  

Inter-Carburetor Joint Tubes (Plenum Cross-Over Pipes)

These O-rings seal the plastic and brass crossover lines when splitting the four carburetors from the main center bracket: [1]

Essential Custom Gaskets (Qty: 4 Each)

These components are not standard round O-rings but are required for a complete rebuild: [1, 2]

• Float Bowl Gaskets: Custom-molded shaped perimeter gaskets (Qty: 4)
  
  
• Choke Plunger Rubber Caps: Formed dust caps to seal the enrichment cables (Qty: 4) [1, 2, 3, 4]
  

 

Now just need to sit down and choose selected sizes form the local online o-ring shop.

 

Dumping fuel is usually stuck float needle valves, IIRC.

Nine out of 10 people will tell you to NEVER split the carbs apart (there's always that one guy...) I'm with the crowd on this one. I've never needed to split the carbs...

She's running!
MOT hopefully this week, brakes bit spongy and indicator relay not playing but... will get it to MOT and see !

 

Nice I recommend plastic welding for the cracks or use uho glue works as it's flexible. Others don't work under load. I also used soldiering iron filled with piece spare abs cross stitched. Managed repair front mudguard broken in 4 so can be done. Brought parts from ebay uk. My vfr rc 36 was wreaked I got it on the road.

You don't NEED to split carbs until you need to split carbs. Or if you have some mechanical ability and organizational skills, you split them for preventative maintenance.

9 out 10 people say never do it, cuz they shouldn't do it.

Little update
Carbs sealed themselves and still holding fingers crossed!
New indicator flasher relay wasn't playing, in desperation I squirted little bit of silicon grease and it is working now!
I have replaced brake fluid in the back brake, it went well, but the front is bit more fiddly, I decided to get the vacum pump, fingers crossed this will help but the opinions are very much divided as to workings of the cheep vacum bleeding pumps...

Still no MOT but i'm hoping Friday...
I'm holding off buying new fuel lines as they do cost fair amount, i'm hoping the MOT test will indicate if it is needed or not.
I noticed that front brake bleeding nipple is corroded, I suspect that the seals need replacing, as well as master cylinders.
Sensible option will be to replace the brake system components.

On a side note, throttle cable 'push' seems missing! is it "common" thing?
