I'm dealing with a 5th gen, but I expect the same would generally apply to any fuel-injected VFR. So, I had an inspection scheduled for the yellow bike (Y2k) last week, to get it NL-registered, but I couldn't get the fuel pump to prime or run. I then swapped the tank from the blue bike (2001), and the pump primed and (eventually) the engine ran--smoothly, but it needed throttle to start. (It was then too late to make it to the inspection, so I postponed that for a month...) I know the issue is somewhere in the yellow tank, and what I'm reading is that these fuel pumps can get gummed up during storage. Considering how long this bike has not been used, I'm surprised this is the first time this has happened! I've heard of Quantum in the US, and Kemso in the UK (both probably using Chinese components), so I will probably order one and fit it (if soaking it in carb cleaner/Marvel Mystery Oil, etc. doesn't work). I note that the OEM Honda pump assembly is not readily available, but costs ~€500-600 regardless! I've also seen that there is a TourMax aftermarket version (a very good Japanese OEM supplier), which is spec'd to be compatible with numerous other OEM pumps, including Triumph and Ducati (OE Refs: 16730-MCJ-000, 16730-MCF-003, 16730-MAT-E20, 16730-MCZ-000, 16730-MBG-000, 16730-MCW-D01, 4304004A, T1240330). MCJ refers to the CBR900RR, MCF refers to the RC51, MAT refers to the Super Blackbird, MCZ refers to the 900 Hornet/919 and MCW refers to the 6th-gen VFR. But now that I think about it, the pump that doesn't work was actually the "upgraded" one supplied in the A&A supercharger kit. I may even still have the bike's OEM pump somewhere... In fact, I must also have another A&A pump in the 6th-gen A&A kit I ended up with a while ago. (Not sure if the A&A pump is any different, or just the FPR, though.) I believe the pump supplied with the A&A kit was a Walbro GSS250 (also marked "09011-1") (I will pull the pump out of the tank tomorrow). I had ordered the Kemso 13802 from eBay, and then found a brand new OEM Denso pump in my parts bins, so I can report that they appear almost identical. The Walbro is slightly (1mm) larger diameter than both of those, but it might be a tad longer (but we know it fits, because that's what's in there now--and failed). Google Gemini tells me that the OEM pump (marked Denso 195130-4081) "is engineered to feed low-horsepower, naturally aspirated commuter engines generating roughly 90 to 115 horsepower. It typically flows around 80 to 100 LPH under normal operating pressure, prioritizing maximum fuel efficiency and dead-silent operation." The Walbro GSS250, on the other hand "flows 168 to 190 LPH at the exact same fuel pressures". Strangely, the Kemso 13802 is supposedly rated at 200 LPH, even higher than the Walbro. But I'll probably fit a new Walbro... Ciao, JZH
