Just wondering has any one had recall work done yet? sounds like its not a simple fix, a front harness as well as battery starter cable is replaced. if any ones had it done maybe they could let us know how it went and what was replaced
    Thanks

I'm having mine done soon, just waiting for my dealer to get the harness and assorted bits in.I'll let you know how it went as soon as it's done.I believe the job requires just over an hour labour.

thanks powerslave notice your CND so we probably get our parts slower than guys state side.

Not having any luck getting work done up here in canada since my bike came from us. thought i could just do a blue connector bypass like others have done and be done with it. but it looks way more involved than that simple fix. buying across line dosent look so good right now

    harness recall fix also

I've got an 05. I'm waiting on the dealer to get my parts in also. They said it could take a week to get the parts, and then I'd have to leave the bike for a day to get it worked on. I haven't noticed any problems with performance myself...

member on vfrd posted Honda 12 page service bulletin for harness fix (very kind of him) so i uploaded to this post. Seems they inspect blue connector replace only if it shows signs of discoloration. a new front sub harness is installed and a battery starter cable.I'm no electrical engineer but it seems to me this new harness has taken some of the electrical load away from blue connector

sorry......file is to large 2.8m pdf format for this site, exceeds limit. too bad this bulletin should be on this site as well. i guess you will have to check it out on vfrd if you cant find it pm me and ill email it to you

I have been waiting for about two weeks so far.My mechanic is not certain how long i'll have to wait for the parts. He did, however print up a copy of the service bulletin for me to look over. The process does not really look all that complicated. The fairings are removed, old harness is un-clipped,and the new one is snapped in.I'm shure if you ask your dealer for this info, they would be more than happy to print off a copy of the service bulletin for you.
    Cheers

My dealer finely received my parts he had on order for this recall and my bike has been in the shop almost 2 weeks now. The shop told me today it failed the inspection and a new harness is required. But the shop has to get the OK from Honda before they can replace the harness. I guess I’m waiting for Honda to OK the replacement of the harness. After they get approval from Honda my dealer will order the new harness and then I have to wait for that to come in. I thought about plowing off the recall, but I’m having problems with my charging system and thought it might be related. I’m thinking about changing my user ID to “HANGER QUEEN”. This sucks.

Sounds like BS to me! Honda has already approved the repair. My dealer called me, and said bring it in. They asked if I wanter to wait for it. I said no. They called the next morning as said it was ready to pick up. I never saw a problem before the replacement, but they made the swap-out anyway.

Here is the deal…After talking to the shop today, the inspecting of my wiring harness on my bike showed the forward and the aft wiring harness was bad. The recall only covered the fwd wiring harness, so the shop had to get approval to replace the aft wiring harness from Honda.

You could always suggest that they help pay for the vehicle you are having to rent while your bike is in their shop, or the difference in fuel costs since you have to drive whatever it is you are driving. They can bring that up with Honda while they are discussing the replacement aft harness. Two weeks is pretty unreasonable for an approval.

Do they have the aft harness in stock? Might be worth asking about.

    Bummer.

Had the recall fix done found a local dealer that got it done through Honda canada took the time to contact them about a us origin bike. had the part in 24hrs rode the bike into shop 2 hrs later it was done was all put back together with out a hitch unlike some of the horror stories on vfrd

powerslave doesn't make sense your dealer is still waiting on parts unless there walking part from TO or maybe there waiting on ice to melt in the rivers so they can send via canoe LOl
