PLEASE, can we let this thread die? We all know, that most people either get the Orange & Black or they don't. 99% of those that don't, don't want to or care.

    KC-10 FE out...

    The thread that cannot die....

Much like HD.... I know many people who ride them and I have ridden with a few harley riders as well.. I have met both the HD snobs and the very nice people as well...

To be honest I have met some "Goldwing Riders" who have had an attitude worse than HD riders...

i can apreciate the look of aHD but the fact that you pay sooo much for such lack of inovation is bizare to me.. I mean why pay 18-20k for a bike that is really about 30 years old?

If I was going to get a crusier and I wanted to spend some cash on it I think a Victory Vegas or 8-Ball would be more my cup of tea...

I have to say...I feel like some scientist that created the most benign thread that mutated and took a life of its own!

Its like a zombie! Aim for the head to bring it down for good!

Well I guess since the price of oil keeps going up it's getting harder for them to afford dumping in a quart every 100 miles.Maybe that's why they're so pissed at the world. Funny thing I saw today while I was out riding was a guy in full harley get-up with the logo on the jacket standing next to his bike under an overpass.Being a good sensed rider I stopped to make sure everything was ok.His problem:how to turn off the turn signal.....His bike a NEW Goldwing1800. Yet another feature harley hasn't caught up to....20th century simple electronics like a switch.

    So....I hate em

Oh my...LOL this thread is hilarious!!! This is the reason I just joined this website. Oh, and the educational value of course.

I would never own a Harley as they are today. They are overpriced garbage and you can't help but question the judgment and motivation of someone buying one.

Harleys do have a long and very interesting history. They certainly have their place in the history of motorcycling and racing. The problem is that they're stuck in that history and haven't moved into the 21st century.

Has anyone seen those HD boots where when you pull on the church keys the training wheels pop out?

For all you folks that take this s**t seriously, you should enjoy a new book out on Rollie Free.

No, no BadBilly, I TRIED to swing this thread to the historic side of the HD hating debate (I mentioned the article about Rollie Free above) and had no takers. You see, as the expression says, we are doomed to repeat history if we do not learn from it. :blah: :blah: :blah:

    Shoot away!

What a minute Nung! That's NOT true!

I just haven't had time to read the article you mentioned and I am hoping to get to a book store and check out Mr. Rollie Free's biography.

What I did find out he set the landspeed record on a Vincent and he used to race Indian's. I could not find any of his comments on Harley's so I can't give the "historical" argument...yet!

BIG BAD BILLY! Good to hear from you...
yup, the interesting stuff was in the article (April 2008 Cycle World) by David Edwards. The feuds we think are relatively new are very old. The "attitude" we think is from the last 20 years has it roots in the way back. My hunch is that the Harley Hater thing is buried a bit deeper in the supporting literature but he was a dyed-in-the-wool Harley Hater.

When one looks back at the beginning of trends and attitudes, one discovers a new perspective and the truths often are more clear. At the very least, the past can be more interesting than the same current arguments and anger recycled over and over...

    Rollie was a character!

    Now, LET'S PLAY SOME JAZZ!

    I own a GEN 5 VFR 800 because it's good fun.
I generally hate HDs because of the some of the small minded twats that ride them.

Possibly even further back than Rollie Free to the days of Class A flat track. HD did what the pro ball teams do. They had scouts and hired the best riders for the famous HD "Wrecking Crew." Class C put that to sort of an end but HD continued to supply bikes and "services" to guys that had the gift and the cojones to go really fast.

    This may be the quote:

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

    George Santayana (1863–1952)

Jazzed up some, if I may:

Those who cannot remember the past have been smoking too much herb or just like to make up s**t hoping someone will buy it.

This thread proves that hate is a bad thing. Baaaad!

BTW, I owned a Combat Wombat. It was a step up from my Super Rat. Those bikes were a blast! But does everyone hate me too?

To those who have been polluted spiritually by any connection with the nefarious Combat Wombat, salvation and redemption may be yours though prayer and medication.
