As I am too lazy to do the research myself, I will throw this out for the experts:

Is it advantageous or even possible to fit steel braided brake lines to a 2003 VFR with the linked brake system????

    Thanks, -J

It looks like no one has any experience with these. I too am looking but have yet to find anything out there for my 2002 VFR.

Goodridge makes it for VFR800 VTEC. It's a kit of 13 brake hoses and quite expensive.

Steel braided brake lines will give you a better brake feel especially during hard braking applications. The stock nylon brake lines tend to swell during hard brake application that can give that sensation of a spongy feel.

I tested this theory out when I purchase a set of Galfer brake line kit and Galfer brake pads for my 00 VFR. I first had the brake lines installed to see what is immediate advantages and I noticed that my front brake lever felt like it was less spongy and I could modjulate the brakes better. After riding a week with my new lines, I installed my new brake pads and I was asbolutely immpressed with the improvement of my stopping power.

The major drawback was the cost and hassle of installing the brake lines. I paid $330 for a complete kit which included the clutch line. Since the kit had no illustrations or directions on how to install the kit that was 18 different pieces, I end up paying another $300 for the installation. I also paid $36 x 3 for the brake pads. Those I installed myself. All said and done I ended up paying close to $750 for a much improve brake upgrade.

Would I do this again? Oh hell yes! Even though the cost is high because of the link brake systen requires so many lines to be replace, it is the added assurance of better brakes that gives me more confidence in controlling my trusted steed when I need come to a screaching halt.

    Braided lines

I have braided lines on both my 91' and my 02' with ABS. I definitely noticed more of a difference on the 91' as the stock lines were probably pretty swollen by then. They look great and work great on both of them. The 91' kit is available and an easy install, the 02' we designed in conjunction with Galfer, who has since put it into production. Not an easy install at all! Would I do it again, absolutely.

Retrofitting SS Brake Lines is apparently one disadvantage of the linked braking system. I did both brakes and clutch lines on my '95 for less than $200 using Goodridge lines.

I race quads and I have ss brake line and I would for sure put them on my bike when the cash allows. There is a night and day diff. between stock and ss brake lines..
