I just got my 2000 VFR800 last weekend, but the tires are less than admirable. I have a friend that has a set of tires but are not exactly the same size.

    Currently on the bike:
    rear: 180/55ZR17
    front: 120/70ZR17

    Tires offered: Dunlop Roadsmart D207
    rear: 170/60ZR17
    front: 120/60ZR17

I'm not too knowledgable about tires so I'm asking if these tires would be safe to place on my bike.

    Any help is appreciated.

Are they the D207zr's or just D207's?

If you are in America I would shy away as they are the stock replacements for the Harley Davidson V-Rod line :heh heh...

I would stick with the stock tire sizes... there are more than enough options for these

Check cyclegear. I have a D220 Sportmax ST tire on the rear. I purchased it last weekend for 99.99 + install on sale. I took it out for a whip in the twisties today and it stays planted (and I ride hard)... I believe its for still on sale on the site (or in a local store). You can get a set mounted for under $250.00 bucks.

If it where me and from what iIknow which ain't much  tires are a tricky thing, just depends on your riding and what you expect. if you use your's for day to day get back and forth from work and not much else, I could see using em Eee maybe, thing is you have a 5.5 inch width rim on the rear so that 170 is going to be stretched, will it work? Yes, Optimum performance, No. Safe? Eee, probably won't kill ya, same goes for the front, even thou its the same rim for the most part you are changing the aspect ratio so the replaced tire will be not be as tall. If it where me, I'm not in your shoes, I'd get the tires that fit no questions asked. Now for style, brand and make, Woo hoo that's a whole nother subject, ain't it guys?

Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm a bit on the uninformed side and was thinking that I can use these tires, being that they were given to me. I think I'll just put the tires on eBay.

Here's an easy way to choose what size tires to put on a 5th Gen VFR:

Put on the sizes the owners manual or sticker on the swingarm says. If you don't have those two pieces of info, here they are:

    F 120/70/17
    R 180/55/17

No, using a bigger or smaller tire IS NOT a good idea. There is no reason to consider any other size.

    KC-10 FE out...
