Those of us here in Northern Ca. who enjoy off-road activities were dealt a big blow this week, we lost 1,000 miles of trails in the El Dorado National Forrest. For those of you out there that don’t think this can/will happen where you live, don’t be fooled. The opposition is well funded and organized. I encourage everyone to become involved in these issues before it’s too late. I’m not saying a person has to become an activist, but joining the AMA would be a good start. Or when you got a few extra bucks kick some over to the good people at the Blue Ribbon Coalition who are also fighting for our rights. Damn! 1000 miles. That's a lot. Sucks. Why can't we offroaders have our areas to play, and the tree hugers have their's. Why's everyone got to try and convert everyone to they're ways, instead of being neutral and leting everyone have they're little peice of heven. I've been watching a few of these things. Just did a few patitions for state land. But your right, if we don't pay attention, and fight back; next time we go camping with our bike, there will be a No Atv's or dirt bikes sign next to the fire permit required sign.
AMA member since I got back into offroading this past year. Here in Oklahoma thee are very few open ranges or forest areas to ride. Sorry to hear about Eldorado.
I love to rally in my car. That is about as off roading as I get. This weekend the car club that I am in is going up to Wellsboro to run the rally stages. It should be a good day. I just hope I am not the one getting pulled out of a ditch.
you know what kills me is that they are trying to take more from us down here. they have taken quite a bit already. there is far more reserved where we ride that is only for hiking and it gets used very rarely yet the bike trails get used almost daily. even given that and the fact that we also pay for wilderness passes, green/red stickers, etc.... we get less of the land to use and there are far more of us using it. I hate the 'if it's not my hobby I don;t care attitude' that dominates so much of our law making...
