    Hi folks !
I just traded in my Honda VTR1000 for a brand new leftover '06 VFR. Going into this new move, my assumption was that the VFR would be much more comfortable, yet less entertaining to ride than the VTR. It sure is way more comfy, however power output is much more impressive than I expected. The build-up of high revving power is quite cool. I assumed clutch action would be required to get the front wheel off the ground, but it easily lifts the front wheel on power alone in 1'st.
I love the way the suspension soaks up the bumps, yet still transmits road feedback. I think I am really going to enjoy this bike ! and look forward to browsing the VFRworld forums for valuable shared info.

Congrats on the move, besides being well planted you'll enjoy only filling up every 200+miles on tour and if you add Staintunes you'll still have a great sounding motorcycle.

    Me too!

I bought a VTR1000 Super Hawk last year and I really enjoy the seat ripping acceleration. It is not the most comfortable bike for me but I just use it for fairly short rides. I did install bars that are a little higher and a gel seat pad. The bars (Tommaselli adjustable) made a real improvement for a 55 year old fart like me. Anyway, I bought a 1990 VFR750 about a month ago and I have only ridden it about a hundred miles. It is a very smooth, comfortable, civilized ride. I now understand why all of these VFR guys are so gag ga over these bikes. Enjoy the VFR!

I was faced with a similar decision, only in reverse. My wife and I have 5th gen VFR's that we LOVE. She was interested in a sport bike, so while she was checking out the 600RR, I was checking out the RC51... Bad idea to test ride 'em... bit us both bad...

We now have VFR's for the long hauls and communting when it's cold or rainy, but our weekend blasts are a bit more "spirited". Best of both worlds! The downside is that now I'll have to buck up for a bead breaker for street radials or we'll go broke paying for tires.

    Tough problem to have, eh?

Congratulations. My Superhawk is being neglected since I got the VFR a couple months ago. There is no way I could get rid of it though. A VTR and a VFR are the best combination to have in the stable, or nest if you will. One of my friends was talking smack the other day when he saw my VFR with side bags on it. He was surprised when I pulled a balance point stand up wheelie in second WITH bags. What an amazing machine.

    Hi,
I think you made a good decision. I have had 3 cbr 1000, 2 Blackbird and one zx12r. Now I have a vrf 800 vtec from 2004, and love this bike: confort, versatality, good look, easy to drive.....
I hope you enjoy your VFR800,

I own a couple of VTR's and VFR's and can't seem to find a reason to part with any of them. If I really want to change things up I roll out my Hawk GT. Enjoy your VFR you won't regret making the trade.

A VTR is my daily rider and I love it. I've been wanting to get a new bike for the last 3 years but nothing can pry me away from it. Poor girl, it gets the tar smacked out of it everyday. Good thing it's a Honda!

I loved my black 99 VTR, it had some high mount TBR's that would set off car alarms while idling through parking lot's. A part of me was taken away when I had to sell it. Even after buying a 95 VFR which I totally love, I still can't replace all of the emptiness. What do they say about never getting over your first love.:pout:

Thanks for the gracious welcome guys.

Interesting how several of you have experience with VTRs...another fantastic Honda product. If I could have afforded it, the VTR would still be in my garage beside my VFR, however it's time for a change !
With more time in the saddle, I'll be able to see just how much this new bike has to offer. So far I am quite impressed.
Can't wait for my first ride down to the awesome roads of New York, Vermont and NH. !

    This website is awesome guys.
If I were a woman, I would marry the genious that uploaded the .pdf service manuals :)

HI had a VTR 04 model from new and absolutely loved it. had ti for 2 years and still regret selling it. I have an 06 VFR now and it too is a great bike. if they could get the VTR fun factor into the VFR Comfort?? That would be the best bike to have. I miss the power and usability of the V twin. But I'm getting older now and look more for the comfort factor. But I miss the V twin thump. especially when I removed the rear baffles in the VTR.
