Ok, I had had it with that other thread cause it was aggravating me to no end. Now, I started a kinder gentler message... This one is about love... Let's all step back breathe easy and name one of our favorite motorcycles....

For me, it was a good old KE100. It wasn't fast, it wasn't necessarily pretty, but it sure did take a beating from me for years and just kept on running. As a matter of fact, I rode it from the time when I had to stand on a cinder block to touch to the time when I finally got a true dirtbike (a KDX 175) Im not sure how many miles I got from it because I broke the speedo off in an end over end flip after rear ending a 3 whlr. It also did have a headlight and some other lights when I got it, but they gradually met their demise in multiple interesting situations... One time I got it stuck up to the gas tank in mud (gumbo) and had to get truck to pull me out with a long rope cause he couldn't get to where I was... I dug the kickstart out of the mud and started it on the first kick and rode it home. Lot of memories from that old bike...

My first motorcycle (that I owned) was a 1979 Suzuki TS-90 inherited from my oldest brother that had seen better days. It was not pretty with the saddle seat and all, but it sure did bring a smile to my face. I mostly grew up with 3/4 wheelers, snowmobiles, and once I rode my middle brother's FJ600, I was hooked on street bikes. It felt so fast, and once I bought my first road bike (an FZR600) in 1992 that damn thing felt like a rocket and would loft the front wheel in second gear! Woo hoo!

That was my first bike too! 74 TS90, loved that thing! We are getting closer by the minute Stuka! Then a few 650 Night Hawks, 1975 RE5 Suzuki Rotary. 2000 600 Katana, and now the 97 VFR.

I've ridden random trail/dirt/street bikes before, but the first thing I have owned is my 87 VFR700. Gotta say after my seat mod, it is a great bike for me. I still wish it was a little shorter, but I manage ok. It is good enough on gas, zippy enough, but still forgiving enough for this novice. I have to say I was pretty surprised by the power when I gave the throttle a lil blip in fifth and it scooted my ass to the back of the seat! I'm sure many great memories will be made on this bike!!!

I almost died laughing when that thread got zapped

    But I'll play, -

My most favorite bike I had was my :attention: Harley Davidson XR750  that I raced TT for 2 years, & my 2nd favorite bike I still have is my Indian 4, I still get a kick out of taking that antique (& reliable) bike for a ride in SoCal when I'm down there:rockon: .

p.s. I had a TS 90 as well, my 1st pit bike

I love any kind of motorcycle... from American makes to Japanese and Italian bikes...

Its not about the bike, its about the riders. There are certain stereotypes that I don't wish to associate myself with.

Like I said though, no matter what it is, I'll ride it.

My favorite bike was my 79' Yamaha IT250, I purchased it from one of my late friends father the summer after he passed from Luekemia @ the age of 16. I sold my first truck (77' Suburban) just to have it; it was the first bike I owned that was actually suited to the style of riding I did @ the time. Which was aggressive tight woods riding, general trail riding & the occasional foray on to the motor cross track to be shown up by a couple of other friends that actually raced regularly. Plus, it had the added benefit of the sentimental value; every time I went riding Mike was riding with me. I am for the most part one of those guys that any thing I own is usually up for sale @ any given time if my mood or the offer is right. To date there have been only two things I would not willingly part with. That bike & my fathers & my boat which was purchased from his uncles estate auction it has value to him from memories fishing in this boat in the 50's & 60's therefore I will never part with it willingly. The bike, I did part with but not willingly some (insert expletive here) stole it from my front yard in the early ninties when I was gainfully employed & had went thru every peice of her to restore her to near show room condition the rings weren't even seated yet it had like 20 minutes of ride time on it. If not for that occurance I would still have it:mad:

In general I've liked everybike I've owned(some have had there quirks) & every bike I've ridden even the little UM 90 I was running around on @ work a couple of weekends ago when we where getting all the dirt bikes going for the season. ( My weekend job, the one I do for fun not the one I do to pay the bills)

I like the cartoon strip, I get accused of such behavior on a bi-weekly or so basis; especially during riding season

Well I've always had a thing for many of the 70's bikes.

Kawasaki had some great bikes that when they show up on e-bay I stare at them!

1978 KZ1000 (Mad Max fans understand)

    the H2's and H3 two-strokes really seemed awesome. I always wanted a two-stroke motorcycle. I love the Aprilia RS250 as a result!

And this may be the safe answer but the Honda CB750 just has a classic late 70's early 80's look. That bike was pure Honda genius IMO.

And I still remember the time Scott Lisk pulled into the parking lot at high school on his RWB Honda Interceptor...I wanted that bike soooo bad.
It was 1989 and I was in 9th grade.

First bike was a 73 indian dirt bike. The carb was so screwed up every time I road it up a steep hill it would choke out if I didn't gun it.....i got really good at field stripping the carb. It was a 2 stroke.....I still love the sound of 2 strokes. poor bike gave me endless hours of fun

My first bike was a 79 Suzuki DS-80. I think it was a 79. Anyway.....it was a good bike to learn on. Then I got a 76 or 77 YZ 80 and afterwards traded both of those in on an 82 RM 80 so I could start racing MX. Later, I got an 82 RM 125. I traded the RM 80 in on an 84 CR125 and had both the RM and the CR. I must say that of those bikes above, the CR was my fav. It was the easiest to ride and felt like it was made just for me. The ergos were almost perfect (and were perfect when I cut the bars down a bit to 36" end to end). I don't think I ever had to change anything on the suspension set up. I wish I had that bike now to play on.

    THANK YOU reg!!

I remember as a kid in the early 70's spending summers in Northeastern Quebec. There were a number of guys running around on, I think, CB450's and probably 750's and thought they were the coolest thing. Every time we'd hear them coming down the street in town we'd run out to watch them pass. We'd gather around the bikes if they were parked nearby, bug the guys with questions and later would race around on our bicycles pretending they were those motorcycles. That's when I first started wanting a bike. Mind you, never got on until well into my 30's (CB 450SC Nighthawk, great bike to learn on), but that desire to ride one day was always there.

ANY bike is cause for at least a turn of the head to check it out ("Hey, there's a bike!"). Some you appreciate more than others but the basic "love" is the same.

I was 6 in 1977. My best friend got a honda 50 for being good while his parents were away. I rode that one time, stayed on for 5 seconds, fell off but held on to the throttle as the bike dragged me down the hill. I have been hooked ever since. Fast forward through 31 years of drooling, wishing, longing...I bought an FZ 600 last summer. Cool starter bike. Sold it in a heartbeat when I had an opportunity to buy my Honda. I have always loved Hondas. The Interceptor was foreign to me, but now we are intimate. I would do it all over again, well worth the wait.
I look at every bike that rolls by. I appreciate the art form. I love the ideas associated with two wheels. I ride every chance I get. I wave at everyone.

My first "real" bike was a 1968 Moto Beta 100cc dirt bike. Ceriani suspension front and rear (6" & 4" travel, a lot for those days). It made about 12 - 15 HP, if I remember correctly, and weighed 156 pounds dry. The expansion chamber was ear-piercing loud, which added to the appeal back then.

It was fast, handled great, and was exceptionally unreliable. Parts were a real problem, even in 1972.

    Nice thread fix!:thumb:

First bike was a honda 400-4.
didn't get a lot of use, but that was the start for me.
Wasn' t until I "came back" to riding about 14 years ago on a Magna.
That was fun. Until I got my 97 Viffer. I enjoyed that one a bunch.
In 2001 I bought a BMW k1200rs. that one has the most miles (Smiles) on it.
Then last year I traded up the 97 viffer for a Y2k.

Hard to decide which I like better between the Y2k viffer & the K1200rs - each has it's strong suit.

The first bike I ever saw or rode was a 1974 Honda CB550F. My dad bought it 2 months after I was born & still has it to this day. I have memories from childhood sitting on the gas tank riding around NJ. That was back when no one wore seat belts & cars had metal dash boards. My dad & this motorcycle are directly responsible for me being a rider today.

    KC-10 FE out...

Do i like motorcycles? I guess the short answer would be YES! It would be more acurate to say that riding fills a psychological niche in my life that nothing else could.

    having owned so many bikes i have to look at those that i ket coming back too. so if i cull it down to those that ive owned more than 3 times i come to;

    VTR 1000F - 4 times

    Honda XR 250 - 4 times

GPZ 900R - 3 times (the same one twice even!)

VF series - 5 times thru 6 generations!

i think a good bike is like a fine wine, you just have to keep going back to it.
