Spring is always an intiresting time. I get my bike out and get it ready for the season and then I go to the dealership and check out the new bikes that come out in March and April. It always makes me wonder about something a little different. I only have room for one bike so the one I have has to do everything pretty well and I think I have THE BIKE for that job but...... once in a while I feel the urge to get back on a more dedicated sportbike like an 848 Ducati or get something thats still a sport tourer but with a lot of power like a K1200S in that new silver/black/blue combination. It just happens that my dealer has these in his showroom and I can't stop wondering what it would be like..... Anybody else go through this and what bikes do you daydream about?

I will not trade this bike in for anything.

Now, I do want to add a track bike to the stable. That USAF Sport Bike COurse planted some kind of weird bug in me & all I've been thinking about lately is getting on the track. I need to find a used RC-51. Will the Ducati 848 make a good track bike?

The 848 is a great track bike.... It wasn't actually designed for the track but the motor and chassis set up just work!!! 134 horses don't hurt either. An RC-51 is a great bike too. Its amazing that Honda just stopped caring about building V-Twin sportbikes.

I would probably trade my '07 RWB for a 2000 yellow VFR and a 1997 VFR.

    KC:

That's why I want you to meet me at the track!!!

And I recommend a smaller bike like an SV650 or any of the more modern 600's for a track bike.

Believe it or not, you'll have more fun.

I would not trade my VFR. Somehow convinced my wife I needed two bikes. Now I am working on a third, but will probably be a couple of years. Next I am thinking Goldwing. Maybe a red one.

I don't think I'd trade mine; I'd just do a few mods to it.

If I COULD, I'd get a second bike. I think I need an 848. I visited a few dealerships yesterday, one being a Ducati / Triumph shop. Got to sit on a 1098 also. Not quite as uncomfortable as I'd thought but there's no practical use for one as an only bike to have. The same might be said for the 848, but seems it'd be a little more livable on the street. I don't know, there's just something about that bike that grabs me.

I would keep the VFR and add an 848 or Hypermotard.

I can't think of anything (within reason) I'd trade my VFR for. Maybe a Crocker or a MV Agusta...OOOH I know, a Duc Desmosedici RR. (I'd have to find a real sucker to make that trade)

Werd. I agree with Bubba.....you'd do better to have a 600 on the track. However I would recommend something like a gsxr, an rr, a zx6, or an r6. It would take too much work to get the sv to handle correctly, specifically the front end.

jonboymd..... thats just not fair!!!! 999r?!?! See thats what I need, better persuasion power to just add not trade! Just out of curiosity, what do you think of the new 1098r? Seems like an unbelievable motorcycle. SLOVFR, we both just have good taste. Anybody ever ridden a Speed Triple 1050? I saw one at one of the local stops on a ride and I never got used to the headlights but it sounded good. The owner put an Arrow exhaust on there and it did the trick....

Your right, the new 600's come ready to go, but if your on a budget you can pick up an SV at a fair price then the suspension work really isn't that bad.

Its really the same as what you would have to do to an older 600.

And out of curiosity, why do you find it weird to agree with me on something?

    Alter Ego,
Comparasons between the 999 gen and 1098 gen that I have seen make the 999 gen look pretty good. One had the 999s actually a bit faster than the 1098 on a track. Most people either love them or hate them based on the styling (I happen to love it), but the bike works. Had the choice to get a new 1098S or used 999R (800 miles) for the same money and chose to go with the 999.
As far at the 1098 goes. That is a different animal. Traction control, an extra 100cc. All three mags this month (sportrider, motorcyclist, cycle world) have write ups. Maybe in 3-4 years I can add a used one to my stable. The old lady would never let me pay 40K for a new one.

First off, I really like my VFR - however, living at aprox 5800 feet and weighing in at a petite 240 I would probably trade for something with a little more HP. I really like the 848/1098's looks and that K1200S is sexy too. One on my friends is looking at a ZX-14. I sat on it at the dealer and really liked how it felt. I'm really hoping he buys it so I can borrow it for a day and see what it's like. In all likelihood I'll be keeping my VFR for at least 3 more years (one boy starting collage and one two years later) which is not a bad thing at all

I would trade up to a K1200S, K1200GT or ZG1400 Concours in a heart beat; would also consider a FJR or ST.
