How many of you would buy a VFR 1000

    If anyone gets a reply back from this address, please share it. I've sent 3 letters in the recent past & haven't received squat in return. Honda is really starting to piss me off.

    If they build this...I will buy one, hopefully there'll be a silver one like seen in some pics...

    While I've only had my 6th gen for a few days I've had a few bikes over my lifetime. If Honda builds a VFR1000 I will most likely buy one as long as it looks good and performs well. I used to have a Yamaha FZ1 and "to me" it was pretty much what a VFR1000 could have been but it lacked any character or "soul" because of the inline-4.

    I would buy a 1000 if it had ergos like my 6th Gen. I just got back from a 1000+ mile ride around CA on my VFR. I cannot imagine doing that on a couple of the bikes posted above!

    The question is whether the next generation is sportier or tourier . . . .

    ^ Ha, that is a question, trick is what folks think touring vs sport is. Mine's a sport bike, whats yours?

    Mines a Sport tourer, with the Gen 5 you can ride 300 miles of back roads flog a few R6's and Gixers through 100 mile of Alpine twisties then ride the 300 miles back in good comfort on the same day. :cool:

    How far would you ride to your favourite twisties in a day ride ?

    Yes, it seems there is a silver one. I would buy this in a heart beat and I said I would never buy a brand new anything!! I like sport, but just had shoulder surgery, so I'm soo sensitive

    ^ that's what I'm talking about That's a sport bike through and through, call it a sport tourer if ya want, it's your ass that's riding it. but for me it's a sport bike. :biggrin: :cool:

    I am with John, sports tourer to kick ass in the twisties, then be able to go back home without having to budget for a chiropractor.

    A few weeks ago we went down to the Snowy mountains for the weekend (1400km round trip), laying rubber between Tumut, Jindabyne, Khancoban, Cabramurra (the ones in the know know what I am talking about). Besides a couple of VFR (Gen5) were a Sprint ST 1050 and a CBR600RR.

    The place where you dont want to be on the boring stretch of Hume Highway from Sydney to Yass and back is the CBR.

    Now once in the good twisty stuff, guess who got on top the mountain first ? If you are on this forum you all know which one (did I mention it was also the bike which happened to carry a pillion).

    My mates reckon it's because I am able to unplug some part of my brain.
    I say it's the bike (granted, it's my third VFR since 1992 so I am sort of starting to understand how they work).

    On the track, a well-ridden CBR will likely be faster, but out there on the real roads, bring it on!

    To get back to a new VFR 1000 model, some people in the thread have mentioned that the current bike was heavy and could be lighter.
    But would you be willing to trade-in centerstand, single-sided swingarm for less weight ? This stuff is heavy but I'd rather keep it. The V4 engine is also inherently heavier than an inline (two sets of cylinders and heads, etc...). But we all want to keep it yes ?

    A light bike feels, well, light. If this is what you want, buy a Supersport.
    Granted extra weight makes it difficult to flick the bike around but come on a VFR is not a freight train Goldwing either... and that weight does somewhat contribute to the magic carpet ride of the VFR.

    I am happy for a new VFR to shed some weight only as long as it retains its magic ride. Who's with me ?

    granted, i know that this thread is specifically looking at the possibility of a VFR1000, though i cant help but to wonder.....which would be cooler? a VFR1000RR that could compete with the fireblade, and possibly make one hell of a mark on the current literbike market, or maybe a vfr made to roll in the hypersport market to take the blackbird's place since its demise after the 2004 model year.....i mean think about it...a VFR1*00XX that would have the nice big chassis like the blackbird, hayabusa, and ZX14, a giant motor to run with those bigger bikes (ill take the 1400cc V4!), outfitted with a set of nice corbin saddle bags and a trunk big enough for my laptop.

    ill tell ya right now, regardless of anything, including my love for my own 87 viffer, id be the first in line to buy a V4 hypersport bike.

    I wouldn't pay a dime for a V-4 supersport. I do not want a supersport.

    Would I trade my VFR for a 1000 cc sport tourer? Well, that's a good question. I haven't felt the need to trade mine in on a Triumph 1050 or a Ducati 1100 MTS, so I bet the answer is "No." Do I need more power on the street? "No!" again. My 800 is completely adequate for one-up riding with a tank bag - which is the only riding I do. If I felt it was underpowered there are several alternatives available right now that have more power than my 95-100 HP bike. And I haven't switched yet, so I must be happy.

    And let me say this - I am vaguely amused by VFRWorld members who try to convince me that I am wrong and that I should be dissatisfed with my bike. It's pretty funny, really. Bigger/faster/more powerful isn't always better for everyone. But, whatever.

    any new word on VFR1000???

    I've seen a lot of pictures of this thing (the new VFR) floating around the web since late 2007. But these are mostly on non-U.S. sites. The funny thing is, there is still no "real" information available on the VFR1000, if it is for real, specs, release date, all that.

    Can anyone help?

    We can't even get an upgrade to the current VFR & you want Honda to make a 1000? I wouldn't hold your breath.

    Yea, Honda is pretty tight lipped about their new models, even the folks that are CBR1000 crazy didn't see the new 1000 coming. that and for some reason those Europeans get the goods first. So with luck we'll have about a 1 month window before it's out, thats a Huge Big Ass "IF" though.

    The styling follows the CBR1000RR but keeps a lot of the VFR800 properties. Whoever did these did a great job!! (unless...they're actually real). And mind you, the sport bike design does fit since the VFR is in the "Sport" section on the Honda site.
