Ebay usually has buckets of bolts and stuff for nearly any bike. Try that...and maybe get some other cheap spares while you can?

I've never found much wrong inside of mine. Are yours dirty inside? I just push the cylinders out a bit on the bikes with a bucket underneath....

By letting it run down (likely a leak you should address) you let air in the system. Adding fluid above it just puts an air pocket in the system....
