sorry if I was unclear, running with no filter will open your air intake and give you a HP gain....a gain that you won't be able to notice...
might make the bike run a bit lean, but opening the airflow (either in or out) *should* give you an increase in HP....not enough to notice in this...

well....did your fuel pump die? did your fuel filter clog? did your bike start up with more gas put in? is your petcock messed up? reserve...
