Congrats, even if you haven’t fixed the glitch you’ve apparently made it work right! That’s my usual result with intermittent electrickery...
Good idea, even then you need to be very careful/gentle, those copper tracks are delicate, thin, & nearly impossible to solder back together
A tiny smear of oxgard(not a di-elec) , applied via toothpick, would be my approach, after your measure(s)
PS, try applying pressure on shift lever constantly after selecting 6th, might be able to “hold” gears engaged. Still requires lotsa work to fix...

It’s possible for a drive(countershaft) sprocket to be worn(“hooked”) in such a manner/degree that applying throttle & accelerating causes this...
If you have an electric heat gun(or hairdryer) some chance that warming cover might help, especially @ the mounting / alignment dowels
