I know it's probably been answered a 100 times, but here goes again. I have an '02 VFR 800 NonA/B that has approx 8k mi on it.....essentially mint. This problem occurred last summer and I haven't diagnosed yet. Battery wouldn't hold a charge. I figured my battery was shot as I'm not good at winter battery maint. I bought a new Yuasa and charged it properly. I've done this twice now, getting expensive. After riding on a charged battery, the battery is drained to the point where it won't turn over after sitting only a day or two. I experimented and immediately disconnected the battery after charging and going for about a 20 mi. ride. I wanted to make sure it wasn't the battery - I reconnected two days later and it fired right up. So, it's obvious that I have some culpret draining my battery when it sits. Previously, I could let my bike sit for a couple of months with no noticeable drain. I'm one of the millions that is unemployed right now and don't really have the $ to take it to the shop. If anyone could give me some advise on how I might be able to diagnose my draining culpret, I would greatly appreciate it Thanks! Doug:frown:
Coincidence maybe??? Holy Smokes you wouldn't happen to be the same Doug from Walla Walla,Washington with an '02 VFR800 that has 8K miles on it and posted this exact same question last year on July 1 at 4:30PM in the Mechanics-Garage Forum would you? :twitch: Here's the link to Doug L's thread in which I gave instructions on how to test for a parasitic battery drain.
