Anyone know if the aluminum brackets the hold the rider's foot pegs are the same on the gen 8 VFR 800 as the gen 6? They appear very similar if they are not identical.

The part numbers for the brackets are different....
    6gen Holder Right = 50606-MCW-D00, Holder Left = 50700-MCW-D00
    8gen Holder Right = 50600-MJM-D10, Holder Left = 50700-MJM-D00

If you go to PARTZILLA and compare the drawings for the steps, (see attached 6 and 8gen Left Step) it looks like the pivot angles for the step to the holder are noticeably different between the 6 and 8gen. The steps themselves are also different part numbers between the 6 and 8gen. Also the 8gen Left Holder will also have a mounting bolt hole for the Quick Shifter Accessory.
However they sure do look similar especially the Right side! Bottom line is I can't guarantee if they are compatible!

Appreciate your input! I had looked at the part numbers and diagrams on Partzilla and noticed the small differences. I guess if I ever find a gen 8 I may try the swap just to see if it works. Not much in common between my gen 7 and gen 3 that will transfer to the gen 6 I'm working on. I find it odd that both step mounts are damaged but could be a lot worse.

The ergonomics are definitely different between the 6th and 8th gens so I am sure there is something that is different.

Thanks for the input, the white 8 spoke really looks great on a gen 6 VFR doesn't it!

For a short while I owned 6th and 8th Gen VFRs and can confirm the foot peg position definitely felt different. Indeed I suspect the proximity of the quick shifter is the real reason why they are not the same.

Bwies sent me this link that shows the difference in ergonomics between bikes. I noticed it quite a bit when I test rode an 8th gen a couple years ago.
