Hi Guys, im new to the forum and need your help. I had my bike running two years age. This year i drained the gas out and put in new gas also got a new battery. First two tries the bike started but died. After that it keeps trying but wont catch, so much so that i ran the battery down. Need some advice on what i should look for. I have the fuel on, choke is open. It maybe flooded, but i just dont know. Anything you can suggest would be helpful. thanks everybody.

You can try. However, being left full of fuel and not ran for two years pretty much guarantees that the carbs need servicing.

NOTE!!!! If you r&r the carbs yourself DO NOT repeat DO NOT take them off the plenum. Many small springs etc will end up lost and the brittle plastic fuel tubes will break. Remove carbs as a unit and then remove float bowls which gives you access to the jets etc. There must be a video somewhere here or over on the V4BBS.

I have an 84 VF750F that experienced the same problems. The main culprit was a totally clogged fuel filter. You still may need to address the carbs, but the filter is an easy place to start.

    Good luck!

Curious - do you Canadians have ethanol in your gas as well?

I'm not saying the carbs still won't need work, but if it was put away without having ethanol in the gas, that's a silver lining.

I don't know of a video, but here's the second time I got to post this thread today!

Remove the tank and hook it up to a fuel bottle and see if it will fire,if not a squirt of starter fluid on the air filter and try again, if it fires up and dies, pull the carbs as has been said previously

If you hooked it up with a fuel bottle you probably bypassed the fuel filter so that takes that out of being a potential problem, so back to the pilot jets
