Hey all, Just found and purchased 85 interceptor with 5300 Miles for 600 bucks! Seller is moving from vermont to denver and was very anxious to clean up. Will be adding Jamie D's cbr mod rear shock and squirelman's clean carbs in next few weeks. More pics coming soon

Great find! Congrats on locating this bike - with 5,300 on the clock the cams, rockers and valve springs should be in good shape.

FYI, Dmr's F4i shock conversion (with a longer reservoir hose) is a great upgrade.

The bike was a buy as is, I didn't get to test ride it. I figured it wasnt too much of a gamble with such low miles and how clean it was. So I grabbed a uhaul trailer and I was there the next day It hadn't been started in two years, so i'll have some cleaning to do so ill start with fuel filter, air filter, gas (tank is clean), plugs, oil, and I'll get a new battery too. I picked it up from New Hampshire, he was originally asking $950. I brought it straight to my buddies shop last night where we'll put on Dmr's 03 f4i shock and put the stock one on my current vf500.

Looks nice. Always nice to run some seafoam through a tank on a bike that's been sitting.

    hahahaha.....well (kinda embaressing)

I was pouring Seafoam down the carbs and lets just say I was over zealous. I'm not used to carbs....especially carbs this tiny.

The carbs filled up....so I opened the throttle and watched it all pour down.....and filled up the combustion chamber. I hoped it wasn't enough to lock the motor but it was.

So I removed the Spark Plugs (which was great cause they were the wrong heat range) and started the bike. It spat all the Seafoam out the plug holes.
I then installed new plugs and fired her up. It smoked for about 15 minutes of riding. Then all was well.

I'd be careful with Seafoam. I poured a can in my motorcycle tank with very little fuel in it. My tank started leaking from a rusty spot that day.

It's still good stuff.....but don't be like me. Follow the instructions.

Definitely a nice find. The bike looks like it will clean up real nice too. It looks to be stock as well which I think is a plus. Congratulations.

Just installed DMR's rear shock modification and took it for my second ride. DMR's rear shock is Ssssssweeeeeeeeeeet! Like I said bike had been sitting for almost two years but was stored properly. I drained carbs, changed fuel, oil was clean so ill change sooner than later, then refueled and she started right up. I want to take it easy on the first few rides. So far runs smooth, idles great, but quickly noticed its bogging at 6000 rpm. Im guessing plugs. Its been at my friends shop to install the shock since I bought it so I was anxious to get it home and take a spin.. Ive yet to change plugs, air filter, and fuel filter.

Hmm, I did notice it sat very tall. So obvious when on center stand eh? Will investigate. Thanks. Any Ideas on the bogging at 6k rpm?

Getting a GOOD one with low miles at that price is a rare opportunity, and should be a good little ride, so enjoy !

I could find space in my stable for a VF 500F--YES, REALLY-- for a deal like THAT !!

Thanks all, still on my first tank of fuel, so I should to give it time to get the bugs out. I've been using a de gunk fuel addiitive, haven't got my hands on Seafoam yet. I know its not quite running like it should, it doesn't have the omf my beaten 84 vf500f has, but everything else is so tight and smooth. Im thinking its running lean, runs a bit better with a bit of choke. OR could it be an air/fuel issue? Anyway, earlier tonight I changed the air filter, plugs, fuel filter, and a fresh oil change. So we'll see tomorrow. May just need to get carbs syncd if bogging persists. Not sure what the sag on rear shock is supposed to be set at yet, feels tall so will lower it I guess. Slowly re-learning all this again. Thanks for the help.
