    Hey folks,

I recently acquired a 1986 VF500F with 22,000ish miles on it for $400. (Thanks Craigslist!) Obviously for that price she wasn't perfect, and at this point I've completed the standard old/long time sitting bike tune up plus body work and paint. I also purchased a new (used) fairing as the original was cracked and exceptionally brittle. However, in attempting to mount it I have a question... where do the sides of the fairing mount to? The original fairing had both mounting tabs broken off and the fairing was just zip tied on the sides. I assume some sort of bracket came off of the frame, but I can't find any evidence of it. Can anybody clue me in? A picture or two if you could spare the time would really help.

    Thanks!

In 86 they actually changed to a replaceable bracket instead of being welded to the frame in 84 and 85. Maybe yours are just missing after being damaged. There should be a hole with threads near a blank hole used for a locator tab off of the bracket.
