I am in a tight spot and could really use some help. My vfr went dead at 65mph. Cooled down and ran again but stumbles at anything over 5000 rpm. I have eliminated everything else and am convinced that the pulse generator is malfunctioning. Has anyone else experienced this? The part is discountinued by Honda, so I am looking aftermarket or used. I can ride around short shifting until it heats up and this really is not the way to ride!! any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks

did you try bike bandit from the banner ads from this site? they carry quite a bit of inventory. you just might be able to find what you want there. the layout of their site is a bit odd to me, but it works well enough. I have bought from them, and I'm pretty sure Vman has, too.

Bike bandit is pretty good. I was looking at the pulse generator schematic on the site and it shows #8 (and presumably #9 as well since it is not inthe list) as discontinued. if the wireing is what you need, then your other choices are motorcycle salvage yards and/or calling numerous dealers to see if they happen to have that by some off chance, OR buying a used vfr for or similar bike (that uses the same engine) for spare parts.

Are you shure its the pulsgenerator? It seems odd that both are defect.
    Generator 1,spark 1 and 3 Yellow and White/yellow.
    Generator 2,spark 2 and 4 Blue and White/Blue.
Measure at the wirecoupler (6-p).The resistance over the generator must be
    between 450-550 ohm.
The resistance of the cam-pulsegenerator is between 405-495 ohm.
