Does anyone know what fuel pump relay can be used in place of the original on a 1986 VFR750?

You really don't need that relay ! :playful:

That failed relay was the first problem i ever had with my '86, and i decided to eliminate it and install a bypass wire that sends power the pump whenever the key is on. ( Illustrated in FSM.) No worries about a relay crapping out while you're riding in tight freeway traffic, faster starting, less battery drain than using start button to fill carbs. And it's FREE ! :smug:

Squirrel, I know what you are saying , but my only concern is in the case of an accident and the ignition is not turned off, bike laying on its side, motor not running, pump will keep pumping, and fuel going everywhere. I'm thinking there must be a vacuum port somewhere up on the inlet manifold that a vacuum switch could be operated by, the type of plastic vacuum switches used in some of the LPG gas conversion kits, they are only about 40mm in diameter and work very well

I've gotta admit to dropping relayless bikes several times (engine running) without any fires.

We all get away with things a million time, it is just on that odd occasion when all the dots line up and you come unstuck.

Forgive me, but what is FSM? I think I would like to do this mod on my 1986 as well.
