    Hi,

I just picked up a 1986 VF500F in pretty good condition. Suspension seems spongy.

I have a 1990 VFR750 shock lying around and I think it's the same length and a bit stiffer than the VF shock. I leery of the stock air shock on the VF. It comes stock with a 950# spring so it would seem like it should work out.

I am wondering if anyone has ever done this swap. The 1990 shock came out of a VFR years ago when a Fox was put in it, so it's fairly low mileage. It has to be better than the stocker with 33.5 K on it.

I may try this, then go to Daugherty Motorsports - Motorcycle Suspension Performance and Modification if I decide to A:keep the bike and B:that the VFR swap didn't work to my liking.

Also, how long to these bikes last? Are they reliable?

Is there a conventional wisdom on a cheapo front end fix? Is it the usual Race Tech springs and thicker oil, or is the a damper rod modification?

    Thanks!

    Adam
