Just bought a 2001 VFR less than a month ago after having my eye on the original VFRs going all the way to the 80's. Love the bike but I'm still learning my way around it. I noticed the Corbin seat would slide back and forth a bit whenever the seat cowl was removed. No big deal...I adjusted the U latch on the seat by sliding it forward. The sliding stopped.

Now I've got a problem-- I cannot get the seat latch to unlock. I've pulled on the release lever as hard as I can, wiggled the seat around, jimmied the lever, etc., but the latch will not unlock. Not sure if it's related or not to me adjusting the U latch on the seat, but I have to be suspicious. Note I had removed the seat after making the adjustment with no problems before, but now, for some reason, it will not unlatch.

I've search the web for this problem but have not found anything. Hard to believe I'm the first person who's encountered this problem. Any suggestions or advice? TIA

Most gen 2's have a problem with the seat latch . It may sound silly , but hitting the seat above the latch while trying to release it works .

Ha! Funny...I just got through trying that method...partly out of frustration :D Now that I know it might actually work I'll try it some more. Thanks.

BTW, I graduated from Sac State in 1993 :)

    Good tagline
