Are you looking to upgrade or just replace damage forks.

Are your forks bent or have some other defect, or do you simply want to upgrade?

Replaced fork seals and noticed a bit of pitting , it's only the left side that's leaking

A free weekend, some skill, patience and some creativity with the brake lines. The worst part was dropping the rear sub frame to remove the proportioning valve. The second worse part was figuring out the brake lines. You can keep one of the rear brake lines and use the other to make the caliper loop

Just so happens I'm just about to do this very thing, de link that is. I'm just in the think tank on how I want to do those brake lines and in that is what version too. other wise it's like what Candy said, One might grab a beer with some patience after you get the parts and go to it.

The f4i forks are fully adjustable (preload/rebound/compression) vs preloaded only VFR forks.
4 piston fixed calipers vs 3 piston sliding calipers.
Less unsprung weight, from losing the secondary master cylinder.
Less sprung weight from losing the proportioning valve and 100 feet of brake lines.
Million times easier maintenance. Bleeding and changing the fluid in linked brakes sucks.
Less risk of dragging brakes. This is starting to happen on more and more bikes equipped with linked brakes, due to secondary master cylinders and proportioning valves gumming up with age.
I believe Honda recalled the Goldwing due to it's linked rear brake dragging, overheating and setting on fire.

But yes, with minimal work (proper spring rate springs, new proper weight fluid and the right adjustments), these forks are terrific for the VFR. The brakes are great too and I believe that they can be be upgraded further to 954/rc51 calipers with minimal effort.

You certainly make this sound worthwhile Candy

It could depending on what your intentions are and what you're looking for, they are more adjustable, that in it's self IMO makes them better

I'm in the same boat, my forks look like they've been underwater for a few months and while my brakes work 'ok' now, I want better brakes and also a handlebar instead of clipons.

I'm down for a 'front end party' here in Socal if and when someone wants to take this kind of task on. I can bring tools, be a set of helping hands, etc. I turn a decent wrench and would appreciate reciprocation when it comes time to do my own bike.
