This is good, but they really need something for the 500cc market.

That bike was brought here for one reason only, to compete against the Ninge 250 in spec 250 class racing. 500's?, it is a useless category. There are plenty of 600's and 650's to fill that niche.

I have been thinking about how sweet one of these would be if you threw some money and a good engine bulider/ tuner at it. I'm interested to see what types of aftermarket parts start to show up because of this machine. This could get good.

Its gonna be a close battle with the ninja 250 but i think the kawi will have an edge. The honda may have fuel injection over the kawasaki's carburetors but the kawasaki is a twin instead of a single. It will make a great beginner bike though.

Typically, American Honda marketing has screwed up again. The folks who brought us the DN-01.

Instead of bringing in the much better 250, the VTR, they bring in a single cylinder that'll be busting its guts out at high speeds. VTR is a 4-valve V-twin with FI, loads of torque and easy 100 mph capability and has a trellis frame--and looks just like a Ducati monster.

I can't describe how much i enjoy riding my little VTR, the model Honda brought in between 1988-1990, and makes me believe that anything over 30 HP is excessive for use on city streets. It's significantly lighter that a Hawk

Honda has given away the 250 first bike market to Kawi's Ningette for years, and they won't be getting lots of sales with a single.

Another poor corporate decision since Americans won't buy single cylinder bikes except for riding dirt.

The single cylinder MD250's seem like they would kick the snot out of a VTR. With a little bit of effort I'm sure the new CBR will too.

I think this bike has been on the euro market for a while. Tandem twin 250 vs a single thumper? ... don't know, rider preference, rev's vs low end torque? As great as the Ninja 250 is, the Honda may have the edge on city streets with grunt.

It all boils down to Honda wants to drive the final nail into the two-stroke race bike coffin.

    Honda Corporate can blow me.

The MD 250 was the final nail, and it happended a couple years ago. Honda has more 4T experience than any of the current makers. Play to your strength. Great racing pedigree.
