Owners Manual says the speed sensor and both front calipers must be removed to get the front wheel out.

Is that the case? of can it be removed with only 1 calliper removed and the sensor left in place?

Manual is correct, I have had mine off many times, only a few bolts, no big deal.

Cheers. Figured I'd ask, My Africa Twin is similar but you dont need to remove half of what the manual says to remove.

I never really tried to avoid taking the parts all off, maybe it can be done, but definitely remove ABS sensor, easily damaged.

Going slow, a floor jack will slide under the header. Lifting up slowly just to point the rear tire touches so as not to alter the pipe you can skip the front stand, fabricating a block to keep raised to remove the jack

I have a head-stock lift, ill use that for the front wheel and will remove the callipers and the sensor.

I believe the exhaust can has to come off as well to get the rear wheel out.

Point of all this is that there're new tires going on it.

If the 8th gen is the same as the 5th, the exhaust can be unbolted at the footpeg and loosened at the clamp, then just rotated downwards to clear the wheel. If you do remove it, I have found copper grease liberally applied to the gasket makes the job easier next time and does not cause any obvious burning issues.

Sure the 8gen is easy, but the 6gen is the easiest for a rear, no exhaust to move out the way.
I've never needed to remove the ABS sensor from the front when removing the wheel, there's more of a chance of damaging the sensor by removing it and having it dangling around, it's safe where it is.
Great workshop and set of tools you have.

Thanks, I removed the sensor for the front wheel, I decided to just follow the manual. It was 50/50 on the forums on those who remove it and those who dont.

thanks re the shop comments. its my sanctuary
