2016 VFRworld Calendar - now accepting photos!

    VFRworld - The holidays snuck up on me this year, but it's that time again! It's time for us to start working together to create next year's 2016 VFRworld Calendar. As most of you know, the Calendar has been a holiday tradition for many years, and every year the quality seems to get better and better.

    The Calendar is a great way to show off our bikes and our creativity, and it's also a great way to support VFRworld. The annual sale of the Calendar covers a large portion of the monthly web hosting and software costs for the site.

    As in previous years, the photos for the calendar will be selected from submissions from our members. Now is your chance to see your beautiful motorcycle, in all its shiny glory, representing a month in 2016.

    IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY!


    The rules for photo submissions are simple.

    1. It must be VFR-related.
    2. You must submit a high resolution photo - over 2000 pixel width would be ideal, which equates to 11"x9". Low resolution photos cannot be enlarged without becoming pixelated.
    3. All years and models are welcome - in fact, the more variety, the better.
    4. Photos which were selected for previous calendars are not eligible. However, a photo previously submitted but not chosen can be re-submitted.
    5. Each member is allowed to submit only 5 photos, so choose wisely.
    6. Classy, artsy, colorful photos are highly encouraged! In the past, the photos selected have been primarily action shots or shots of VFRs in interesting situations (as opposed to a snapshot of your bike sitting in your driveway).
    7. The deadline for submitting is end of day, Friday, December 11, which is less than two weeks away.


    Sticking with tradition, the VFRworld moderators will decide which photos will be included in the calendar. This will ensure that we are selecting photos that will create a well-rounded work of art, including a variety of years and models, settings, and users. Please note that typically, over a hundred photos are submitted, and there are only 13 finalists.

    Just click on Upload Photos.

    IMPORTANT!! When you upload, you must include the following information in the caption:
    VFRworld Username, Catchy Title, Year Make Model, Photo Location

    The caption field is only one line, so you need to separate the fields with commas, as shown above. If you make a mistake on the caption, you won't be able to edit, you'll need to upload your photo again with a new caption.

    IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO NOT ENTER THIS INFORMATION, THEN WE HAVE NO WAY OF CONSIDERING YOUR PHOTO!

    NOTE: Please don't post your photos on this thread, they won't officially be submitted until you post them on the official Calendar page.

    Just a reminder, if you upload photos, you need to include the mandatory information, or your photo cannot be considered for the calendar. Several great photos have already been uploaded, but they don't all have the appropriate description. If you uploaded a photo and didn't follow the specific instructions in this thread, then you will need to re-upload your photos with the information. Thanks!

    All that on one line huh, I gave it a catchy title. just hope the ones uploaded without don't count towards the 5 total allowed. here's to doing it again ;)

    Ok 3rd time was the charm, with that my apologizes to those that see a few duplicates, seems as though in ones haste you need to wait longer and re read your proof, don't assume you can go back and fix it. Doh!! Now I'm in the know. whew!!

    I see some nice pix being uploaded but will be out of the picking because there is no caption. That's really too bad. Dropevent is a little convoluted but it can be done. I will try to do a step by step so that those who make the effort, supply what is needed for the mods to pick their photos if they are winners..

    1. Click on the drop box link supplied by Michael above. This will bring you to the dropevent page for the calendar.
    2. Under "Add to this event" click on "Upload photos" on the right of the screen
    3. Type in your email address where requested
    4. Click "Choose photos" under you email address (green tab)
    5. Choose the photo you want to upload from wherever on your computer the photo is stored. It will show up as a tab on that page. DO NOT HIT THE OK BUTTON YET!
    6. Below your photo, click on "Edit Caption"
    7. Click in the caption field which will highlight. In this order, type in your username, comma, a title for the photo, comma, bike description, comma, and location
    8. Click on "update Caption" tab.
    9. Click on "Okay" near bottom right.

    These steps should post your photo with the information Michael and crew are needing to consider your submission.

    ^ for the most part what Randy said, just watch the little proof with current text in the Caption, if it don't read right or as you'd like, then go to the edit caption tab then retrype, my mistake was not seeing nor waiting long enough for the proof to show up. it's not as instant as one would think. again doh!
