Sidi Way Rain Boots I purchased a pair of these boots in anticipation of winter early September, and waited until I had worn them for over a month to review. Initially I only wanted to spend 100-130, but eventually spent 200 for a few reasons. I wanted somthing comfortable and waterproof not just for riding, but when I step off my bike too. Most of the time I find unmetered street parking that is still a good hike from where I am going. The roads around here are poor and sometimes a puddle is actually 8 inches deep or the snowbank you're jumping over is mostly slush. I found that the Sidi brand offered several waterproof boots, had a suprising number of positive reviews for most models, and offers some hard protection at this price. It looks like a normal pair of boots too, if you are avoiding the stormtrooper look. Like the customer reviews said, they fit true to size for me (size 11), and are slightly narrow. I have a narrow foot so I liked this, but if you have a wide foot, you'd probably want the Mega Way Rain for $25 more. They were a little stiff at first with parts digging into your foot where the toes meet the foot and at the ankle, but this fades away as it becomes flexible and creases develop. The shin digs a little when you walk without your pants tucked into them. They are not the most comfortable walking boots, but they are not uncomfortable. I like that the shape of the sole is suited for easy shifting instead of walking. Shorter boots like the Sport Rain boots would be more comfortable when off the bike, but I wanted the high ankles for the extra safety and weather protection. There is no bootie or sock-like liner inside, so it's easy to slip on and feels secure and comfortable. The outer is made of Lorica, but seems just like leather. I have noticed that it doesn't seem to scratch, and I've stubbed and kicked plenty of things with these. It would still look new except for the creases mentioned above, and wear on the rubber sole. The are stiff liners within the construction protecting the front of the shin, around the heel, over that round ankle bone on the inside, and over the toes. While not much, I like knowing it's there. I couldn't find other waterproof boots that had more than toe protection for this price. These boots are really waterproof. I submerged one for 10 minutes, then unzipped and unvelcroed it, and submerged for another 10 minutes. Completely dry inside. Paper I stuffed in there did not wick up anything. Doesn't feel like it absorbed any noticeable amount of water within the layers either. Overall, I like these boots.
I just bought another model Sidi this summer. I am very satisfied. Great fit, super finish. I have worn them for a few thousand miles already and have zero complaints.
I bought a pair of the SIDI Way Rain boots last year; I agree, great product. I just clean them up with some leather wipes, and that keeps these boots looking new.
