Good riding season will be over in a month or two for many of us so throwing money at our bikes is what makes winter fun. I have a huge list of mods I'll be doing to my '93 VFR. I have every intention on modernizing my exhaust can. I currently have a old ass Cobra F1s can on my bike. It's not loud but it hasn't aged well. I'm looking at putting on a Yosh something or other.

Looking for what others have done to accomodate thier exhaust cans and how they came up with thier custom mid-pipes. I don't/can't weld so I'll be asking the local exhaust shop for assistance.

    Post them pics!!!

OK, no pics but I'll descibe it simply.

    1. Take old can/pipe and take/have taken to band saw and saw it off just below can. You now have a connector and mid pipe. Measure OD.
    2. Buy new slip-on can with same ID connector. Slip-on and line up hanger. Tighten. Hang.

I had the local muffler shop take some 3" (76mm) OD aluminized muffler pipe and bent a very gentle about 20 degree bend in it to match the old angle. He also flared the end gently and shrank it back down to form a good seal on the collector under the bike. Slipped old clamp with OEM bolts and springs on.

I slipped on (very tight fit, had to sand/brush the exterior of the connector a little) the new can (Remus Carbon Viper dual port). Lined everything up and fabbed a hanger to the rear peg. In my case i wanted it to match the lines of my Krauser bags so no intereference/heat issues.

Installed hanger and tightened hanger bolts. Now tighten all other bolts slowly to keep nice tight fit. You MAY need some high temp RTV at can/connector junction. A little louder, but throaty.

    Installed.

See, easy. You are only limited by your imagination/wallet/time.

I also have a second set of pipes ala RC45, but on the right. Dual 3" carbon cans about 15" long. A little nasty, but very GP inspired. Being redone with new ceramic wool at this time. Strictly summer one-up riding.

    3rd gen exhaust

    Try these.

Note: The GP twins are presently being redone in carbon.

    Nothing close at this time.

Very nice, thank you. I also like the Yamaha R1 forks and brakes. I'm looking into that myself with the 2004-2006 flavour.

CArfeul, they are shorter and require 929 upper triple clamp. I used the 2000 because they let me use the RC51 SP1 uppers as well.

Yep. I have the required parts list. CBR 929/954 Triple (upper and lower) and 2mm spacers for discs and front axle spacers. Everything else is easy day.
